Tyrese Haliburton, 6’5” PG Iowa State
Here’s a young guy (sophomore, born Feb 2000), who has excellent height for a PG, a long reach, slippery athleticism and quickness, and he’s terrific at doing the right thing. Really a coach’s dream — takes care of the ball, has a very good assist to turnover ratio, is effective as the primary or secondary ball handler, is an efficient scorer who hits at a high clip (when he does take shots), plays excellent defense (lots of deflections and steals), hustles, and is a great teammate.
One of my early favorites whom I hope we end up drafting.

Armando Bacot, 6’10” 230 lbs PF/C
This freshmen big man wants to bring back the big man to center stage. You won’t see him taking 3’s or shaking defenders with crossovers — what he does is attacks the paint with force and skill. A really good motor helps him to keep the attack going. He runs the floor really hard (goes into full sprint mode), and gives defense a solid effort.
I don’t see big time talent in him, but it isn’t hard to imagine this kid being a serviceable starter in the NBA one day for a team who uses his skills to their advantage.

Aaron Nesmith, 6’6” 213 lbs, SG/SF Vanderbilt
This sophomore can really shoot the ball. Catch and shoot, off the curl, dribble step back, set shot, you name it; this kid can stroke it beautifully. And he always seems balanced and in rhythm.
And far from being just a shooter, Nesmith does what he’s supposed to do — knows how to pass, where to pass it, when to drive, how to get his shot off, etc. And this kid plays defense too.
All in all, I think he’s a guy if we draft, we can plug in at the 2 and Brad will be a happy guy.

Danny said on Toucher and Rich that this draft doesn’t have a Zion, but where we’ll be drafting (mid to late 20’s) there will be good players to choose from. By that I take it to mean solid players with work ethics and personality like GWill, Carsen and Tremont. I think we’re going to see us drafting more and more players like this. Their ceiling may not be as high, but their floor is not at low either.
It’s the Spurs’ way of drafting.

Onyeka Okongwu, 6’10”, C/PF, USC, freshmen
Here is a big man worth keeping your eyes on. Young, but shows lot of projectable skills already. May look methodical at times, but it’s like your eyes deceive you when you see him explode in the air for power dunks. Nice touch around the rim.
What’s exciting about him is he can be used for his low post scoring abilities or as a lob threat.
He hasn’t shown much yet, but he flashes perimeter shooting as well.

Not the right spot for it, but man I think that Cade Cunningham would be a perfect fit for this team for the future. Will prolly need a top 3 pick in 2021 to pick him up, so we'll need some lotto luck from memphis.

Cade Cunningham AND Terrence Clarke (who has been working with Tatum and Jaylen because he’s from a nearby school) both look promising. If we somehow don’t get Memphis’ pick this coming draft, I absolutely hope they fail miserably next season so we can have a totally unprotected first round pick in 2021.

Going back to Cade Cunningham, he’s got a mature body already. Not quite a man child like Anthony Edwards, but still NBA ready even right now. Once he tightens up his handles, his game will take a big leap.
For now, I’d think he’s not too far from Cole Anthony as a prospect coming out of high school.

Daniel Oturu, 6’10” Center, Minnesota
Haven’t seen much of him, but scoring and rebounding numbers look solid (20 and 12). Can stroke it from 3 pt range, midrange, has some post moves, can be a lob threat. He’s quite agile, but if he was a tad more explosive, I’d think he’d be a top 10 pick (I say this blindly — I still would like to see him more).

Myles Powell, the powerhouse combo guard from Seton Hall, is a tremendous scorer. Built stalky like Carsen Edwards, and has a quick release like Carsen, but he’s smoother and in control. He’s a better scoring threat because he doesn’t rely on straight like drives and choreographed finishes like Carsen — Powell has a feel for when to drive, and when to pull up.

From what I'm reading, this draft is not considered very good. I'd like to see Danny trade one or more, or even all three of our first round picks for 2022 first round picks, which is expected to be exceptional, partly because it'll be the first year when players coming direct from HS will be eligible, essentially making two years' worth of prospects available in one draft. Unless he sees something that no one else does of course.

Not a lot of high end prospects — but lots of potentially solid contributors (players who can be glue guys, like GWill).
I’m looking at this draft to fortify our bench of the future.

Tyler Bey, 6’7” Wing, Colorado
Atheltic, explosive, versatile, heady, good at finishing at the rim, excellent rebounder for a wing, averaging better than 1 block and steal per game (which tells you he’s active and involved throughout the fame).

Tyrell Terry, 6’4” PG, Stanford
Only a freshman, but plays with lots of poise. Has good feel on offense. Smooth player who’s in control, and dictates the pace. Doesn’t looked rush. I think he can big a big scorer.

I don't know how much a player's performance in the March tournaments affects how he's perceived by the league's GMs, but you'd think at the least, the cancellation of the tournaments reduces the information that guys like Danny will have come draft time.
My guess is that a player who's been a standout all year wouldn't be hurt be a poor tournament, but a guy who maybe hasn't stood out, has a chance to get noticed by a big tournament performance. Those guys will be hurt I think.
It's hard enough to project an 18 year old. This just makes it harder.
