Welcome to the 2018 Free agency thread. Summer is no longer the offseason for NBA news.
Just minutes away from July 1st, the official start to free agency, we are already excited about the upcoming changes we are going to see in the League.

Woj bomb!!
Paul George, long said to be headed to Los Angeles, to play at home in front of friends and family, at the place he grew up and wanted to play at, has instead re-signed with Oklahoma City, to play with Russell Westbrook!!
I'm glad that he's staying put. It's good for OKC that they can be competitive in the West, and help balance the power a bit. With Carmelo staying put, the trio at OKC can hopefully work together with more cohesion and be a stronger team than last year.

DeAndre Jordan is going to meet with Marc Cuban, with the intent to work out a contract with Dallas.
I'm glad he's going to Dallas, and not Golden State, as was reported.

Chris Paul is staying put in Houston, by re-signing with them for 4 years 160 million (wow, that's a huuuuuge contract).
Lebron loses another guy he wanted to team up with. I don't know, maybe Lebron stays in CLE now.

Jokic re-signs with the Nuggets (no surprise).
Will Barton also re-signs with DEN.
Ilyasova back to Milwaukee.
Rudy Gay re-signs with the Spurs.

Kevin Durant signing a 2 year contract with Golden State, with the 2nd year a player option.

Trevor Ariza signs with Phoenix.
I wish he would have stayed with Houston. I want the Rockets to challenge the Warriors out West, and Ariza was a reason why.

I'm really glad George isn't signing with the Lakers. First, anything to stick it to the Lakers is good. Second, it makes it less likely that LBJ will sign there, now or next year. And third, I find the whole Laker plan to be offensive. "All we have to do is clear cap space, and because it's Los Angeles, we're the Lakers, and I'm Magic, players will want to come here."
Now they can go ahead and build around Lonzo Ball. Yeah, good luck with that.

I can't believe Ariza got a one year 15mill. Or that Will Barton got a 4 year 13.5 per deal. Or that Joe Harris got 8mill per for two years. Or that Doug McDermott got about 7.3 per for 3 years. Or that Ersan got 7 mill per for 3 years at the age of 31.
Makes me think Smart is absolutely right about what he's worth and he's long gone

I think teams around the league, including the Celtics, may be making a minor mistake. Players are getting cut and not renewed who have made starts in the NBA and there's not that much money or roster spots for them.
I think some of them could be great for two way contracts.
Instead of Jabari Bird you could get a guy like Tyler Ullis or Pat Connaughton or Davon Reed. That might be quite a step up for us and some of them might prefer that to Europe or China.

Rondo is now a Laker. How the (once) mighty has fallen.

Rondo is the perfect complement to Ball. Two great passers who can't shoot. Oh, wait.

Such a sad day to see Rondo go there. I always root for him, but I don't understand it. I take it they're interested in using Ball in a trade?

Boogie Cousins to GS. So dumb. Maybe GS can convince Lebron to back out of his deal and sign for League minimum.
