If Kyrie is serious about not signing next year, would you swap Kawhi for Kyrie? Not sure I want Terry playing full time, but it could be a mix up I prefer to stand pat and see what this team has next year... the talk of Kawhi sitting out when the team approved him to play puts him really low in my book. One guy with connections on another board says Kyrie is onboard with pursuing Kawhi, as are Hayward, Horford, etc. They realize by getting Kawhi, we're heavyweight contenders for titles. So we're probably not moving Kyrie, or any of the veteran stars, and it sounds pretty much like Tatum is off limits too. I'm not even sure Jaylen and Rozier are on the table as well.

am scare of kawhi he quit on he's team no good He feels the team quit on him -- coach Pop, his teammates, all turned on him publically. But I think it's deeper than that. Stuff that we won't hear about until everyone is old and gray. Kawhi is so bothered by something that he absolutely wants nothing with that organization.

Apparently, Pop loves Jaylen, thinks very highly of him. i'm sure if we offered Jaylen, we'd have a deal done already.
But I bet Ainge is not going to give up Jaylen unless there is a verbal agreement from Kawhi that he will indeed sign an extension next summer.

I don't know if Ainge will be able to pull this one out, but if we can get Kawhi AND keep Jaylen, wow!!
And I know that means we're including a lot of high potential draft picks, but with Tatum and Jaylen, we have 2 studs in the making who are going to be long term fixtures to build around.
So we win titles now, and we keep the torch going once this core is sun setting.

Maybe if San Antonio is pushing hard for Jaylen, Ainge is not offering a prized draft pick (or two). It's either Jaylen, or a prized draft pick -- but not both.
Let's see who blinks first.
***OK, question: Would you rather keep Jaylen? or keep the Sacto lottery pick?

Jaylen. He's already pretty good and he improved an amazing amount already. He's elite athletically, smart, and driven. The pick could be anywhere from [HASH]2 to late lottery, with no guarantee it'll yield anyone as good as Jaylen.

I think there's a 0.1% chance of us getting Kawhi at this point.
I think Jaylen is much more valuable than the Sacto pick because of the uncertainty with the pick. I really want to give Jaylen a chance to continue to get better especially as his contract is so nice. We'll eventually have to make a tough decision to juggle contracts and money but at least we'll have a better idea of what each player can do by then.

Here's what Scott Souza reported:
Scott Souza @scott_Souza [HASH]Celtics Danny Ainge said felt like C's were title contenders - though not necessarily favorites - coming out of camp last year. Said he is content to go forward with comeback core, but that C's will always check in whenever 'first-ballot Hall of Famers' become available
-------------------------------------------------
Ainge does not deny there are legit talks going on, but that not all are true. Danny is looking to add pieces to improve, seeing that he feels we are title contenders, but not favorites.

Do you guys believe that the Spurs are not going to trade with a western conference team?

Depends on the team. I think they really didn't like the way the Lakers got Pao Gasol and don't want to see them swoop in again. If it were a team like Portland? I don't think they'd have an issue.

Overall, even if the Spurs will bring down their trade demand (hope), I think Danny will still hold off from offering Jaylen Brown, even Terry Rozier, and the Sacto '19 pick.
I'm willing to give up Rozier and draft picks for Kawhi, and probably even Jaylen. But I think Danny's end game is Anthony Davis. He's going to do his best to have a boatload of assets to go all in for AD.
With that being his aim, Ainge probably won't give a good trade offer for Kawhi, even if San Antonio drops their demand.

If Kawhi speaks with Ainge and determines that he will sign an extension with us next summer, do you now give up Jaylen Brown?

I would. Assuming full health, KL is already at a level we can only hope JB reaches at some point. And though I like Jaylen as a player, can we honestly project him as a top 5 player in the league?
However, as someone already posted here, there is something called the Rose Rule that would prevent us having both Kyrie and Kawhi at the same time.
