[Wojnarowski/Shelburne] "(Leonard) will eventually alert rival teams considering trades for him that his intentions are to sign in Los Angeles -- preferably with the Lakers -- when he can become a free agent in 2019, league sources said."

So if the Spurs hope to get anything for him it will be from a team with a very short window who is desperate enough to give something to have him for one year. That's not us.

Saw on another Celtics message board, a post that has Kawhi's sister saying, "Be patient, Respect the process and let's see what happens".
Respect the process? Is that a cryptic message about where Kawhi is going (Philadelphia)?
Add that to what Jared Weiss posted, that we are trying to get the 4th pick by trading the Kings' '19 pick + Memphis' future pick. Those picks would probably have been used in a package for Kawhi.
So here we go, let's look at these 2 possibilities.
1) we're no longer pursuing Kawhi, and instead we're going after Doncic or Jaren Jackson or Bamba.
2) we're aiming to get the 4th pick to use that as a trading chip to get Kawhi.
Never a boring moment for a fan of a team that is run by Danny Ainge.

I just can't seem to get away from checking the rumors. It seems the Spurs are adamant about not trading Kawhi to a Western conference team. They're either going to retain him, or trade him out East.
With so many picks next year, and a decision to be made about Smart (and Rozier), plus with our glut of star caliber (and potential) wings, I can see Ainge making an attractive offer.
But then again, if the prize Ainge is after is Anthony Davis, he's going to hold onto as many trade assets, just in case AD becomes available.

I bet Ainge already checked on stuff and decided not to go this route. We don't really need him and a lot of people don't think he fits our window. Our window is really based around Tatum/Jaylen, the Sacramento pick, the Memphis pick, and maybe Kyrie, and maaaaaaayyyyybbbbeeee Hayward, but definitely not Horford.
We have to wait till Curry/Durant get hurt, old, or break up. We can take shots at them but can't trade away a long term future of Sacramento, Memphis, and Clippers picks for one year or one guy

But I think our window to compete for titles is open now, and it will remain open as guys like Horford get too old for it and Tatum and Jaylen (crossing fingers) emerge as genuine stars who take over. Kyrie and Hayward may be a part of that era, but I think Ainge does go after Davis if possible. But yes, Ainge's eyes are on the present, as well as the future.

If Ainge could trade for Kawhi without giving up Tatum or Jaylen, and instead move Rozier and a lot of draft picks, would you endorse that trade?

Not if he's here for one year only. To me that's the sticking point.

Not if he's here for one year only. To me that's the sticking point. But that one year could net us a title -- I'd think giving up Rozier and picks is worth that, no? IF we keep our team intact as is, I'd say our chances of beating the Warriors in a 7 game series is around 40-45% Getting Kawhi Leonard, to me, bumps us up to maybe 55% We have an edge over Golden State if we add Kawhi, IMO.

But then our chances go down in future years if KL leaves. I guess it depends on which picks we'd give up. We saw this year how even a [HASH]14 pick can yield a very talented player if he slides because of injury concerns or perceived work ethic. I don't think I want to deal the Kings' pick for one year of Kawhi, even if it brings a title. I think I'd feel differently if I'd never seen my team win, but because I have, I'd rather keep building for the long term.

Lakers are making a huge offer for Kawhi -- I think that means they're empting their roster for Kawhi.
On the one hand, I like that we're in the mix (and we really do have the most to offer). But the flipside to this is, we are forcing the Lakers to up the ante. This could backfire for them down the road and cripple their future.
In Danny we trust!

If Kyrie is serious about not signing next year, would you swap Kawhi for Kyrie? Not sure I want Terry playing full time, but it could be a mix up I prefer to stand pat and see what this team has next year... the talk of Kawhi sitting out when the team approved him to play puts him really low in my book.
