Just heard it on NBAtv. Gordon just posted on the Player's tribune that he is joining the Celtics!!!
He said there's still unfinished business with Brad Stevens about not winning it in 2010 (when Butler lost in the NCAA Finals to Duke).
If that's how you feel, Gordon, do your absolute best to make it happen this time around!

Ok, now second order of business. What do we do next?
As constructed, we still are underdogs compared to Cleveland. We got killed by their size inside and were outrebounded mightily by Kevin Love and Tristan Thompson.
We brought in Zizic, but I'm not too optimistic that he's ready right now to be a big contributor.
We released Amir Johnson, who isn't a great rebounder, but he played heavy minutes for us. And we may also see Olynyk gone, who also isn't a great rebounder, but means we lose another big man. Not to mention that Tyler Zeller is gone too.
This leads me to think we're going to do something about our lack of frontcourt depth.
We have young players who may contribute down the road (Zizic, Yabusele, Ojeleye, Theiss), but probably not this year.

This is me but I think I'd offer the MLE to Pau Gasol. Gotta move someone, possibly on the cheap. I think Avery and Jae are good candidates to move. I feel like if you could move either of those guys (or both) to the West for a protected first you do it. We need to open up minutes for Tatum and Jaylen.
Just add to the asset pile if you can because we need the space and whatnot.
Another free agent that I think is very talented and could help us for year (sorta a bridge year to younger guys) would be Tyreke Evans, even though he's always hurt, but you gotta move Avery and Jae first.
I also think Ersan Ilyasova could be good, but I think he'll want more money.
Patrick Patterson could help.
Dwayne Demon maybe. I was hoping for a sneaky player like Alan Williams but the Suns just made him a 4 year offer.
Other than that I think you gotta look at how money and positions could work out. I think it's worth phone calls to look into things like Jae Crowder for Cody Zeller. I think they'd say no, but you never know. They just brought in Dwight Howard and drafted Frank Kaminsky

Adrian Wojnarowski Verified account @wojespn Flurry of action surrounding Olynyk, with multiple teams gauging his price point in unrestricted free agency now, league sources tell ESPN.
Source says Boston has already begun contacting teams about picking up Marcus Smart.

Paul Gasol, is an old man, but can still be a serviceable Center. What about a trade for LaMarcus Aldridge? Smart and Olynyk as the starting point.

Overall, I think Smart's lack of offensive production makes him a liability.

Yes, offensively we've improved. Defensively, well........... hopefully Danny does a few things the rest of the summer to strengthen us up front.

Need to start adding some C/PF mix to ensure the rebounding and defensive end. Not sure what's available on the market through free agency. Hopefully trading Smart away could bring some bigger bodies on short contracts.

I'm gonna take a guess trying to trade Bradley and Jae hasn't gone great and Marcus has gone better. I find that very interesting. I think it implies Ainge might look at it a couple ways.
Avery still helps us more this year and maybe we got a shot now.
Rozier can do a lot of what Smart can do.
Due to longer length of contract and that the contract is a tad cheaper maybe we can get something better. Maybe the offer on Bradley is a 2nd rounder but Smart is a first. In that case it might make sense.
Some teams are just really stupid. If you are a team in the West with aims at challenging the Warriors any time in the next three years (looking at you Rockets. Clippers? Maybe even Nuggets. OKC?) then you have no business whatsoever not trying to trade a lottery protected first for Jae Crowder.
Jae is needed at the moment to play some PF.
It looks like the NBA sees the free agents available for money as more valuable than the players available for trade. I see that as odd. KO would make more money in a year and a half than Jae C will make the next 3 years and Jae is the far more accomplished player.

Great 24 hrs for Boston -- Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum looking great in summer league, Coach Stevens disclosing IT unlikely to need surgery, and Hayward is coming to Boston!

From ESPN: With Gordon Hayward now agreeing to a four-year $127M max contract, Celtics management now has a series of transactions to do in order to create cap space. The Celtics would have to pull the qualifying offer on Kelly Olynyk, renounce free agents Jonas Jerebko, James Young, Gerald Green and waive the contracts of Jordan Mickey and Demetrius Jackson (or trade). The Celtics would be left with $27.6M in room and likely need to move the contract of Jae Crowder, Terry Rozier or Marcus Smart. Trading Rozier would have the Celtics short $1M of a max salary a lot.
-----
So it sounds like Crowder and/or Smart is next. And soon.

If it were me, I'd send Crowder to one of the Laker's division rivals..anything to weaken them or cause a few losses.
