11/10
Ayton, both in preseason and now at the start of the regular season, has looked incredible. Looks nothing like a freshman. He's already got one translatable skill; rebounding. And by the looks of it, he's got other skills that should translate as well; such as scoring from the inside and out. Runs the floor well for a 7 footer.
Bagley looks alright. Still don't see him being a franchise talent.
Luka continues to showcase high level skills and smarts. Plus, he looks like the guy who plays Capt America. I'd rank him #2 right now, after Ayton.
Porter and Bamba haven't played yet.

I'm impressed with Alonzo Trier from Arizona. 6'4" guard who scres efficiently. Will be a nice late round pick who can come off the bench in the NBA.

A name I'm keeping tabs on is Michigan's big man, Moritz Wagner. Offensively, this guy is springy. For a near 7 footer, he can accelerate quickly off of pivots and spins, and he can do it going either way. Can also hit 3s off the catch. Very coordinated. Likes to fly down the court.
I'm not sure how he is defensively. Might not be so good at it (which might check him off the list for Brad and Ainge).

Best case scenario, we end up with the no.2 pick. In that scenario, one would think that it boils down to Doncic or Ayton.
But don't be surprised at all if Ainge picks Bagley. Watching him against Texas...the dude is an absolute beast. We talk all the time about guys really wanting it. Guys who play with a sense of nastiness and aggressiveness. Bagley is it. He is absolutely it. He has a good feel for getting points in the interior which works great for us if we wanted to let Horford stretch it out abit. But he also has a decent shooting form for the long range which can improve. Right now I see him having the aggressiveness we saw in an early version of Blake Griffin, but he is also a decent ball handler that doesn't look out of place dribbling and pivoting with post moves...a lil bit of KG in all that.
Anyway enough of my craziness. He is hands down the guy I would want us to pick if we had that chance.

Let's hope this kid has a lot of development left in him. There are many young players who are near their capabilities.
Cause if Bagley's tank is only 40% right now, yeah, he's going to be incredible when he reaches 85-90%.
His 3s and free throws haven't been falling, his handles aren't crisp, and his offensive repitoire is limited to put backs and some elementary left handed moves. So there's a lot for him to improve upon.

Yup but the intangible and athleticism makes him my stand out. His motor, aggressiveness and mean streak when contesting the 50-50 is things you can't teach. Slide him in the paint for a ton of putbacks and O-rebounds and he'll be feasting. Plus Coach K really knows how to teach his kids the pick and roll game which works perfect when you're playing side by side with alot of unselfish passers.

He seems to be a clean up artist, and a guy who benefits from teammates penetrating into the paint. Though he's been scoring a lot, he's not getting many of those by creating his own shots.
He can be a good fit for our team, due to his versatility and length, and I'm sure Brad will bring the best out of him.
But for me, DeAndre Ayton is the guy I'm hoping we land.

Have you seen Trae Young (Oklahoma) play? I've been reading great things about him.
Would we even consider drafting a PG with Kyrie on board? He seems special. Brad seems willing to play multiple small guys at the same time. We've seen Larkin, TR and KI out there together at times.
I know we could use a talented big man, but what if the best player available is a guard?

I really want a BIG, because Horford without playing Baynes/Morris (even Theis) right next to him can not protect the rim.

Seems like almost every time I tune in a college game to scout a potential draftee the guy stinks. In the Durant/Oden year Oden stunk every time I saw him. Durant was an exception though - being routinely great.
Last night I watched Trae Young and he didn't impress me at all. Only one game though.
Then I saw a little of Bagley in the Duke/NC State game and he was a lot more impressive.
IMO, if we do get a top 5 pick, in order to pick a guard the guy would have to be clearly better than all the big men.
