**Editted 8/16/17 to include Marvin Bagley III
(Right now, we could possibly have 2 top 5 picks in next year's draft, with the absolute best care scenario being we get the [HASH]1 and the [HASH]2 (with Brooklyn winning the lottery, and the Lakers getting the 2nd pick).
So we're once again going to be wildly interested in the draft.
Here are five six names that are currently being talked about, competing for the top 3 (though a year from now, we may see other names added in replacing some of these guys listed below)
DeAndre Ayton, 7' 250 lbs, C Mo Bamba, 7' 215 lbs, C Michael Porter, 6'10" SF/PF Luka Doncic, 6'7" 220 lbs, PG Robert Williams, 6'9", 235 lbs, PF/C Marvin Bagley III, 6'11" 225 lbs, PF/C
As you can see, the current top prospects happen to play positions where we need talent at -- Center, PF/SF, and PG

Love that collection of talent. though I think Doncic will play SF/SG, at least on defense. aint no way he's checking opposing PGs at the NBA level.

My only reservation about Doncic is that his foot speed is only average (maybe slightly below). But then again, DJ wasn't known to be fleet footed either, and he somehow made up for it and was an excellent defender. Bamba may have the greatest potential of them all; but he is so darn raw that I'd be scared to take him.

I think 4 out of the 5 will be the same. Overall, a top heavy draft. I am glad Danny put insurance on the LAL pick from PHI.

Marvin Bagley, a big name high school player, is possibly going to be in the 2018 draft, adding another name into the top 5 - 10 consideration.
I'm getting excited about Robert Williams, as maybe competing for the [HASH]1. He's 6'9", but plays big (has a 7'4" wingspan). Great explosiveness, great reach (catches lobs that are HIGH in the air), great hands. Strong rebounder due to length and quickness going for the ball (I want him to learn to box out more). Strong shot blocker as well.

A kid who isn't going to be in the mix for the top pick, but likely to be in the top 10 is Jarred Vanderbilt. At 6'8" with length and some muscle on his arms, this kid can handle the Point and nail three's.
Since we don't know how poorly Brooklyn will do this year, there's a chance we don't get into the top 4. If we are outside of the 4, my early preseason list would include Vanderbilt.

Another guy I'm getting excited about is Kevin Knox. He's slippery athleticism, his coordination, his ability to deftly finish at the rim, even the way he shoots, reminds me of Reggie Lewis -- except he's 6'9"!! Tremendous transition player who can go coast to coast. Really has a nose for the ball.
There are a lot of non-top 3 picks who I'm interested in getting a hold of.

Porter, Bamba, Ayton, 1 of the 3, I am good. I am not too impressed with Doncic.

Ayton, to me, is the [HASH]1. Not sold on Bamba. Porter isn't a dog player (at least from what I've seen -- though his jumper is money).
Ayton has good polish for a high school Center, and is very good on the boards. Seems like he has a good feel. Knock on him is he doesn't play hard all the time.
Doncic is a mystery. Doesn't have the foot speed, but has everything else you could ask for out of a 6'8" PG.
I would include Robert Williams in the conversation for top overall pick. I really hope he's in the gym right now, working his tail off to improve from his impressive freshmen year.

If Bagley enters this draft getting a top 5 pick will almost guarantee you a good prospect. Then Throw in guys like Williams and Bridges and this could be one heckuva draft. I'm pretty confident that Brooklyn is gonna be awful. Now we just need LAL to fall apart. Lopez will help them, but that is still a bad basketball team. If Lopez gets injured, the wheels could fall off.

Marvin Bagley is built like Marcus (or Markief) Morris, but a couple of inches taller. And like them, not really explosive, but can move pretty well.
I don't know if he has a midrange, but he can knock down 3's if open (shoots set shots). Don't know if he's crafty in the post.
Lot of things I have to see from Bagley in the upcoming college season.

My top 3 in the draft are:
1) DeAnde Ayton 2) Robert Williams 3) Luka Doncic
Not necessarily in this order, but maybe. These 3 guys are at the top of my list because they're highly skilled and show fight and aggressiveness.
The other 3 guys, I'm still waiting to see what I feel about them.
Bo Mamba is so far away from being a polished product that I'm leary of him every reaching his high potential. Even his highlights (which are supposed to showcase his good plays) exposes how raw he is.
Michael Porter is a great shooter, and is explosive. But until I see some fight and grit in him, I think he's a tease.
I have not been impressed with Marvin Bagley so far. I get a Derrick Favors vibe from him -- a big man who looks real good, but doesn't stand out in a crowd, doesn't dominate.

Here's a guy who may not be considered a top 10 pick, but USC big man, Chimezie Metu is a guy I like. He's 6'10 and maybe around 220 lbs, so questions will arise about how he'll bang with the brutes in the NBA (like our very own Aron Baynes). But his strengths are his athleticsm, explosiveness, quick feet, and compact game. Has the ability to hit midrange (which looks like it can be stretched out beyond the arc with more practice), has a hook shot with his left or right, runs the floor like a deer, can block shots and rebound, and maybe even lead fastbreaks.
So his game is tailored more towards the new big man game -- which is why I have my eyes on him. We have our own draft pick, which should be in the late 20's. Maybe Metu falls (though if he adds a three point shot this year, he'll rise instead of fall).
But by chance, if it happens, he's a 4/5 in Brad's system, and I think he can be exceptional.
