I awoke today to reports that Phil Jackson is taking calls on possibly trading Porzingis. I know that Phil really liked Jae. And the Celtics can put together quite a package of picks to include. In my opinion, if Porzingis is indeed available that should be his priority.
Supposedly Phil is thinking of taking Markinen with the 8th pick and so sees Porzingis as expendable. Also, this...

Gotta say that he'd probably fit perfectly into Stevens' style. I don't understand the Knicks though. I wonder if they'd be reluctant to trade him to us.

I think there was more than meets the eye when Porzingis left without an exit interview. Initially, the media made it out to be nothing, but there's more to it than that it seems. Looks like it rubbed Phil Jackson the wrong way.
Gotta think that Porzingis is worth the [HASH]3 and other assets. At only a young 21, he's already an 18 ppg guy with improving stats across the board.

Porzingis is going to be worth at least [HASH]3 and other draft picks. Not sure why the Knicks would trade away their best asset in order to rebuild with Josh Jackson? I wouldn't be surprise if the knicks want to package Melo with Porzingis in order to create cap room for future max contracts.

They like Lauri Markkanen, who is not as versatile as Porzingis, but may be a better shooter. Plus, if NY can get a [HASH]3 pick, plus Crowder (who Phil likes) and say Avery Bradley (NY is looking for a good defensive guard), we might be onto something here.

Seems that Phil is talking Porzingis trade but is also asking the moon for him.

Good. Should scare off many teams from pursuing him. In the end, we have the most to offer and Phil will have to settle for less than a full return.

Danny definitely could meet that requirement.

Yeah, and realistically Porzingis is the type of impactful talent we're hoping to draft anyways. DeAndre Ayton may, or may not, pan out to be the player Porzingis is RIGHT NOW (and who knows how much better Porzingis is going to be in his prime, which isn't here for another few more years).
Drafts are a huge gamble, and Porzingis is already proving to be a legit star in the NBA.
I say we should go for it.

In addition to Markkanen, I heard that Phil likes Dennis Smith Jr.
We can dangle the [HASH]3, as well as next year's Lakers' pick, and then I'd let him pick Bradley or Smart. That's my starting offer, and we'll work from there.

Just listened to Windhurst on the radio just now. Said, in speaking to executives around the league, Phil is listening to offers for Porzingis, not because Kristaps fell out of favor with Phil, but because there is concern about Porzingis' long term health (alluded to joints -- I suppose joints in his knees?).
A guy at his size and his height, who plays the way he does, may not hold up so well down the road -- that's what it seemed Windhorst was saying executives think Phil is concerned about.
