After getting stuck with someone years ago [HASH]Celtics president Danny Ainge has claimed - at least - that he no longer does draft commitments.

Just a couple more tidbits.  I'm reading that the workout isn't near as important as the medical info they get when a player comes in for a workout.   Also, Jackson skipped the Combine so Celtics have no medical info on him.

And Josh is basically a similar type player to Jaylen Brown, so maybe Jackson's agent is weary of this too.

Out of the two, I'd take Jackson, but I like them both. Heck, I like Dearron Fox too, though his jumper scares me more than Jackson's. But if the Lakers take Ball, I'd definitely be willing to move back with PHX if they make the deal worthwhile.

Celtics finally received Josh Jackson's medicals, but he still won't workout for Boston. C's still debating but appear to be leaning Tatum

The medicals are the important thing for drafting a player.  But the fact that he won't work out for Boston should be a red flag not to take him whether it's his agent or not keeping him from coming in for a workout.  I know that Danny said that he'd take a player that he didn't see work out.  He must still be considering him though to keep pushing for that medical info.

I'd take Tatum. I'm tired of waiting for players to develop some true offensive skills. We already have Brown which has started off well. We need someone who can bring it on the offensive end for once.

As of yesterday, the front office was undecided and still is weighing the merits of Jackson and Duke’s Jayson Tatum. As Ainge said earlier this week, the team has both players ranked as high as Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball at the top of the draft board.

Jayson Tatum — The 6-foot-8 Duke forward won over the scouting staff in several ways, including one of the most polished scoring capabilities and an off-court personality that has not just impressed the Celtics, but every team within interviewing distance.
The Celts were at a group workout in Los Angeles where Tatum answered some questions about his deep shot ability by hitting 81-of-100 3-pointers from the corner. He already has enough moves and footwork to operate as an isolation scorer.
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski reportedly told confidantes that Tatum has more “moves” than any other player he has coached.
Tatum projects as more of a small forward than a 4, but he has an improbable 8-foot-10 standing reach that bodes well for defending and rebounding against bigger players.
He’s also expected to put on bulk relatively easily. Tatum weighed 202 pounds at the 2016 McDonald’s All-America game. He has put on 10 pounds since then.

Josh Jackson — Jackson is a strong, athletic defender who is expected to mature as a scorer in the NBA, though some have questioned his ability to develop a jump shot. In terms of his passion and rugged style, some compared the 6-8 forward to Marcus Smart.
And though some question his temperament after a violent incident last season, the Celtics reportedly feel good about drafting Jackson after investigating what happened.
Jackson agreed to a diversion agreement after he and Kansas teammate Lagerald Vick were charged with damaging the car of a member of the Kansas women’s basketball team, in addition to shouting verbal threats at the woman inside the car. Jackson, who wrote a letter of apology, was ordered to undergo anger management and perform community service.
“It doesn’t rise to the level of alarm,” the source said of how the Celtics view the Jackson incident.
For now, the red flag hasn’t been raised among the many teams interested in Jackson, and the chance of landing him gives Ainge significant leverage in the event he makes another draft-week trade.
Jackson appears to have the edge on Tatum with his ability to play both forward positions. He’s also expected to develop as a scorer, though Jackson lacks Tatum’s polish as a shooter. Jackson, instead, attacks with Smart’s relentlessness at both ends of the floor.
His most immediate contribution probably will be made as an extension of the Celtics’ clawing defensive culture. Also like Smart, though, Jackson was a poor free throw shooter in college, hitting just 56 percent as a Kansas freshman.

Actually, I don't see neither Smart or Rozier being our starting PG in the future.

Smart, for the time being, is our defensive MVP and part time offensive sparkplug (once every 4 games, he'll come up with big moments on offense). I'm not impressed with his PG skills, but might be ok with him being a backup PG.
