Pierce is missing free throws again. No excuse for that. We have to make our freebies and if they keep missing I think Doc needs to have FT drills at practice.
We have pulled back to within 2 on Pierce drives to the basket. Blount missing his jumpers. Doc's excuse for playing him is his offense which seems to have gone south along with his rebounding.
Pierce getting a rest now with Ricky coming back in. Big Al missed a hook and Blunt fouls trying for the put back so now he has 2 fouls... time to sit him and bring Perk back but we know Doc ... he will play Blount and leave Perk on the bench which defies all logic. OG made a good play getting a rebound and driving to the basket and got fouled and made both FT's. He seems to be playing fairly well. He took a quick jumper one time down but other than that has been making good decisions with the ball. Doc putting DD and West in for last posession in the first. Going with offense/Defense on last two possessions. Ricky takes the last shot and missed a mid range jumper. Knicks lead by 4 at the end of the 1st quarter.

the knicks are challenging orien to shoot and he seems to be pretty aggressive. i'm glad he doesn't shy away from shooting as he used to do...
why in the name of...did doc take perk out? does anybody who can see the game tell me?

After a good start rebounding, after Doc took Perk out, we got rebounded the rest of the way. Doc starts the second with OG, Al, Veal, Reed, and Ricky. I hate to say it, but Veal may be an upgrade from Blount. If only Veal would stop shooting those outside shots he misses every time. Al just picked up his 2nd foul on a Marbury drive to the basket. Knicks open up an 8 point lead. Ricky just hit a jumper and hustled for a rebound which is a good sign. maybe he will heat up. Delonte is hustling out there and able to get another rebound. Pierce misses another FT.... that frustrates me!! The need to be able to make those!!!!

Doc took Perk out when he picked up his 2nd free throw. But Al and Blount have 2 also and he kept them in the game. Al playing with 2 right now. Blount on the bench (thank goodness). Ricky just made a beautiful drive. He switched to his left hand mid air to avoid getting hacked on the shot and laid it in!!
Defense is picking up now and we are coming back. Ricky playing very well now. Surprisingly, Veal isn't playing too bad.

Veal West, PP, Ricky, and Al in and brought us back to within 1. Al just got called for an Offensive foul. Defensive 3 sec call on the Knicks so we shoot a tech and get the ball. PP made that one... saves me from pulling out my hair. Ricky scores inside after the inbounds and we are tied. Al gets his hand on an alley oop pass for a turnover. Our outside shooting is still way off.... We need to drive more and take it to the basket. Score is tied at 32 halfway through the 2nd.

Blocking foul on Curry on an AlJeff drive. We need Perk in now with Curry in there and that would create a mismatch. Why is Doc sticking with Veal? PP traveled for another turnover. But we are doing much better with only 4 TO's to Knick's 10. Ricky is having a good game... another drive to the basket to give us a 2 point lead and then a jumper for a 4 point lead. Veal has 2 fouls..... Please take him out and put Perk in......

Very good, Veal out and Raef in... Would rather see Perk in but Raef is an upgrade over Veal. Ricky playing good defense... just broke up a pass. Perk in for Al..... I am smiling. Ricky good pass across court to an open PP for a 3 pointer. Big defensive lapse.... we let Marbury waltze right down the middle for a finger roll.

Another defensive lapse. Raef bobbled a Ricky pass and another unmolested drive to the basket. D West's shot goes in. Ricky got fouled but no call by the ref standing right there watching. He got hacked right across his shooting hand and the ref stood right there looking at it. and no call. BAD REF!!! Even the NY announcers couldn't believe the non call. Shooting gone cold again and another Marbury drive to the basket and and a foul for a 3 point play to take the lead with 34 seconds left in the first.... Ricky misses a jumper a the other end and Perk hustles for the rebound to give us another chance to close the quarter. Doc calls a time out to set something up for the final play of the quarter. Veal in for perk to avoid a 3rd foul. Veal hits the shot. Knicks miss at the other end and we get the rebound and Ricky's shot at the buzzer rolls around and falls out and we go into the half leading by 1 46-45.

Q at the Half:
Let me commend the flceltsfan12 for the play by play update. Looks like she types as fast as Johnny Most used to talk.
The Celtics responded better at the Defensive end as Blount was taken out and put in for Scalabrine who worked hard and others - notably Jefferson, Pierce and RD picked up the intensity.
Really two things are still making this a game.
1. Stephon Marbury has 24 points by his lonesome.
2. The Celtics cold shooting.
Hopefully the Celtics will put this game away in the third qtr and we can move on to football.
Q's key - in the seven or eight minutes Blount appeared, the Celtics were outscored by 26 - 14, looking thoroughly horrible in the process.
Doc put in Scalabrine for Blount and things improved slowly for the Celtics.

He does all the dirty work out there, back to work sportsfans.
