This Warriors team is unfairly good.
No matter what we do this summer and next, can we realistically put together a team that can compete against them?
But it don't matter. All these playoff games will serve its purpose to give our young players high pressure experience, and make them tougher.
I say go after Hayward, even though we only have a fraction of a chance to beat the Warriors and Cleveland. Draft Fultz, go back to the ECF, lose again, and have another top 4 pick.
We keep making it deep into the playoffs, and adding lottery talent in the draft, all the while building up our young stars who will be the core to take down the Warriors when they start to slip.
Just like Chris Mannix said -- build around a star level Jaylen Brown, a top 5 PG Markelle Fultz, and the all around stud Michael Porter (or big men Ayton or Bamba). They'll be playoff tested and ready to run a dynasty in 5 years.

No matter what we do this summer and next, can we realistically put together a team that can compete against them? No. This Warriors team is a perfect storm of great drafting and luck. The fact that they were able to get their big three on such team friendly deals is a one in a million shot. They will be awesome for at least 2-3 more years. For me, this is yet another reason to move IT4 this off-season. The rest of his prime years will coincide with that dominant warriors team. Try to flip him for a younger player or a pick. That said, I think a complete rebuild is silly. Keep Horford. Use cap space and other non-essential assets (LAC [HASH]1, rights to Yabu, etc) to get young, quality players. I also have no problem with bringing in vets on team-friendly deals. I think it's huge for our young'ns to be surrounded by quality vets on a team playing winning basketball.

Yeah, it's hard to see us challenging the Warriors in the next few years even if everything went perfectly. However, I AM seeing something in this series that gives me hope of overcoming the Cavs. LeBron is still capable of being the best player on the court, but he isn't capable of doing that for a full game if the game is played at the pace that the Warriors play. At age 32.5 he gets tired now. Last night he was a one-man wrecking crew in the first half, single-handedly keeping his team in the game. In the second half he deferred to his teammates and wasn't nearly as aggressive. You could see he was tired. If we are going to beat the Cavs anytime soon it's going to be because we push the pace relentlessly. Get the rebound, look up court, pass the ball, everyone is running and spacing the floor, the ball is moving, bing, bing, bing, and (unlike now) we have people who can hit shots. As James ages this is only going to be more effective.
Plus, it's a fun style for us as fans to watch. And just maybe a fun style to play that would help attract free agents.

Yep, we need to get faster, add more length, and add more skilled players onto the team.

That's why I think it's always nice to have some guards like Rozier, Smart, Bradley, etc. In a 7 game series you can have them guys come in for spurts and play intense, full court pressure D on the teams primary ball handler. That would wear on guys like Curry, too.

That's also the reason why I want us to get more speed and length, and muscle, if possible to guard the likes of Curry, Kyrie, etc. At least try to bother them with speed and length.

Each year GS will get progressively worse. CBA. Curry, and Durant at new max contracts, with Thompson, and Green on old max contracts. Iggy and Livingston will be casualties this year.

Durant already said he is willing to take a lesser amount in order to keep the band together. I'm sure Curry will do the same. Wouldn't shock me if Klay and Draymond do it either.
Now, the bench guys may be willing to take their game elsewhere to make more money. If Shaun Livingston gets an offer from, say Orlando, for $20 mil, I would think that'll be hard to pass up. Or if someone is willing to pay Ian Clark $12 mil, how can he pass that up? He's got to think about his long term investments.

I doubt any of their big 4 take significant discounts to keep this thing together. My guess is they eventually flip Klay and their main core will be Draymond, KD and Curry. Klay would get them enough decently talented guys on rookie deals to fill a couple holes on this team. But once Draymond is eligible again for a new contract they will be pretty tied up financially. Luckily they have Green at a 17mill per year price for three more seasons. That's a crazy deal in today's NBA.

I'd go Klay. Better scorer and defender. But it's fairly close.

Scoring wise, Hayward may be more versatile, though Klay is the more pure shooter. Defensively, all I've heard is both are really good and underrated defenders, so let's say it's a wash.

Hayward is definitely more versatile, but Klay's shooting trumps that IMO. Dude would be averaging 26-28ppg on most other teams. Dude is incredible. And Hayard is also a very capable defender, but I'd still put Thompson ahead of him.

I wonder if money might not be the thing that breaks up the Warriors. Maybe a guy like Klay, who will never be more than the 3rd guy on GS, might want to be THE MAN on another team - or at least the 2nd guy.

I definitely think Klay will be the one to get moved once that 4some gets too expensive. But even without Klay that team is gonna be very tough to stop.
