The transcendent players who come along once in a generation can be, at times, instantly recognizable, and they usually are drafted with the top pick (such as Lebron James, Shaq, Duncan, etc). But then you have some transcendent players who aren't so obvious initially, and many teams passed up on them (such as Steph Curry (7th pick), Kawhi Leonard (15th pick), Kobe (13th pick).
Who knows, maybe Jaylen Brown, taken 3rd overall, may develop into a transcendent player. Maybe Fultz, who is getting national hype, but not as a transcendent type player, might be one.
That's what makes it hard for me to think about trading them.
Should we trade the [HASH]1 pick for Paul George?

I want nothing to do with George because of wanting to play at home in LA. If we make a trade I would rather go for a big guy because I still believe that we are getting Hayward.

Really? Obviously lot of time between now and next year's draft, and he's still growing and developing -- but IMO he looked like a slower Blake Grffin. And I don't mean Griffin from 5 years ago; I mean the slow, and injury riddled Blake Griffin today!

Sounds very much like George wants to be a Laker. He's very outspoken about that. Will he bleed green if he was our player, playing against the Lakers?

Yeah, I hope my eye are deceiving me because I want him to be a future superstar, in the event we get another top pick.

Nope, don't think that's accurate. But then again, even professional scouts fail most of the time, so there's no exact science when it comes to scouting. Just mlast year, after satching the high school all star games, I wasn't overly impressed with Fultz, Tatum, Jackson, etc. But after seeing them at the college level (where they were able to hone their skills more and improve their body), my opinion about the was much kore favorable. So I'll have to wait and see how Porter does in college before I give my opinion.

I like watching draftexpress' strengths, esp weakness videos. The weakness videos provide a complete assessment.

Jaylen has plenty of time to grow. Lest we forget that even guys like Jimmy Butler who we were hoping to trade for, didn't even breakout till his 4th season. Right now Brown is showing more than Butler did in his first season. It'll take sometime, just like how we waited for Bradley. Even guys like Kawhi didn't breakout till his 4th season as well. Maybe 4 is the magic number!

That's when they've reach the level of really blossoming.

2016 - Lebron 2015 - Curry 2014 - Duncan/Spurs 2013 - Lebron 2012 - Lebron 2011 - Dirk 2010 - Kobe 2009 - Kobe 2008 - Pierce/Garnett 2007 - Duncan 2006 - Wade/Shaq 2005 - Duncan 2004 - Pistons haha
Honestly, you gotta have one of the best players in the NBA to really win the title. There's not many years there where Kobe/Duncan/Lebron haven't won. I don't think Paul George fits that description, but I guess we'd probably go that Pistons route where there's more of a strong starting 5 and then a solid supporting cast since we may always lack that true superstar.

I haven't seen much of Fultz because I don't watch a lot of college ball but from what I've read, Fultz could be that kind of a franchise player. I don't see Paul George, Jimmy Butler or Gordon Hayward as being a franchise player. But, any of them could add to a Pistons like roster where they would strong enough to overcome a superstar on the other teams.
One player I don't want is Blake Griffin. He is a prima Donna who is oft injured and he has lost a ton of athleticism with successive injuries.
