Your frustration is very warranted, Mev. We should have, and could have, won this game had Tony Brown coached a better game. I'm beginning to wonder how much of Tony Brown's input Doc uses because maybe its Brown's urging to play Blount more and Perkins less, and not Rivers'.
I also thought that we needed to run plays at the end of the game because our offense was give it to Pierce and let the burden fall on his shoulders. He did a valiant effort, but why couldn't we have called for plays that would have given him, or others, good looks at the basket?

Any correlation that when Perk played big minutes, he rebounded a ton and we won and when he didn't play a lot of minutes, and Blount did, that we lose a close game?

I am shocked at Perkins' rebounding numbers, but I also feel he should have played more. Listening to the game on the internet, the Boston announcers in the fourth quarter commented on how the Bulls were killing us on the glass and getting second chance points, and wondering why Perkins was not in the game. Chandler and Perkins both had just one rebound at the end of the first quarter, as there were not a lot of missed shots between the two teams to open the game, but Skiles did not keep Chandler on the bench for most of the rest of the game. With continued playing time, he obviously got things going off the glass and I can't help wonder if Perkins might not have done the same. Blount had a good game for him with 7 rebounds in 29 minutes, but he does not do a good job of keeping the opposing big men off the offensive glass. The announcers also mentioned ad infinitum in the fourth quarter that the Celtics had no ball movement; everything was one pass and a shot. They mentioned that the one thing Pierce needs to do is trust that other players on the team can also make plays. Listening to us was like listening to the Lakers, where Kobe does all the scoring and the team still loses. Perkins only had one rebound, but he tapped at least 4 balls away from the hoop to Celtics who were credited with the rebound but they wouldn't have gotten them without Perk in there fighting and clearing them out. He also was boxing out so that other Celtics could come in to rebound. Perk made a big difference while he was in there and we went on our run and got ahead with Perk in there. The coaches need to start trusting him and let him play. There was no excuse to play him 17 minutes now that they know what he can do!!! Blount got almost every one of his rebounds cause they bounced to him. I think he only went after 1 of them. I got particulary disgusted watching him stand flat footed and put his arm out and watch the rebound go just beyond his fingertips... not moving to try to get it. Pierce did try to distribute the ball early but no one was hitting their shots and so pretty much every one was trying to get the ball to Pierce. It wasn't the Pierce of old where he tried to take over the game, it just sort of happened since he was the only one playing really hard. Ricky was wayyyy off and always plays poorly against Gen Gordon. I think he tries too hard to show him up and gets too tight. Even with everything else, the difference in the game was rebounds (and maybe turnovers - between Blount and Pierce they had 10). They got 16 offensive rebounds which I think would have been much fewer had we had our best rebounder in there.

Rivers is a bonehead, he keeps reverting back to Blonut when it gets though. The sad part part is, Blonut knows this...

I am starting to get really aggravated with this team. It's not like a losing team that plays exciting basketball that you can see big things in the future. The assistant coach should be the kind of guy that you could see as possibly being a head guy some day but i don't see that at all. The head coach is a clown. When you give Raef a lot more minutes than AL J, even when Raef isn't doing all that well something is wrong with you. Also giving Blount minutes ahead of anyone is pretty dumb. Neither Perk nor Al J were even close to fouling out but they left tweedle dee and tweedle dumb (Raef and Blount) in for way more time. Also it's pretty obvious why Delonte is the starting PG. He is the biggest hustler on the team. If I were West I'd call out the team on their non hustle. I'd be like "You got PP going for 43 points, me, Perk, usually Ricky and a bunch of guys that play like they don't care. They act like the game is a burden and that's why we're a bunch of losers now." If I were PP I'd make the exact same statement, but I'd throw in ".. and a coach that insists on playing those losers." This team is going nowhere and will continue to go nowhere as long as Blount is head coach. Look at the Bulls. They're young, but look at the way they play. Look at who gets the minutes. If Doc was coaching that team Piatkowski would be starting PG and Othella Harrington would be starting C. It doesn't matter what players you give Doc. If he gets Oden he will sit behind Blount. If he gets Daniel gibson he will sit behind Delonte and Dickau. The next step is that players with a shot at a decent future in this league like say Gomes will be waived and free agents with no future like Anthony Johnson, or Matt Bonner with be brought in their place I hate this team. It's like watching a slow motion truch wreck where either truck driver could swerve but neither do. It's a joke. When I look at the espn power rankings I think "Wait why aren't we at the bottom? What 6 teams are worse than us?"

Actually, you "can" see big things coming from this team. The reason why yesterday's loss to the Bulls is so hurtful is because we "should" have won the game. I see a lot of good things from this team and its only a matter of playing good basketball consistently, and not sporadically like how we have been playing. At times, when we are htting on all cylinders, offensively and defensively, we are a tough team to beat. And its not like we are playing way above our heads. We can truly play this way for most of the game. But we just aren't consistent enough at this point to play this way long enough to win more games.
Yes its true. I do believe that Raef's time is up. His playing time needs to be shortened. He's a calming veteran presence on the court, but there are too many times when he doesn't contribute on the court. Jefferson is next in line to receive more playing time.
