What I find funny is how many people seemed shocked by this news. Rondo is a vet on a losing team. Lost teams and vets part ways all the time sports. Plus, we drafted a point guard with a lottery pick. The writing is on the wall. I agree with you Fresh. When I first saw the clip I thought it was old. Jackie Mac is a long time HOF Boston reporter, I believe she hears stuff off the record all the time. ESPN should have never aired the personal conversation she was having. It's pretty interesting hearing her say some of that stuff candidly though. I believe her when she says Rondo wants out. He's a vet in the prime of his career and is on a bottom 5 team in the league why wouldn't he want out. He already said he is going to try free agency. Does it surprise anyone when she said Doc was done with Rondo? Rondo is a pain in the (censored) to coach. I do believe Rondo and Doc may be friendly but when it comes to working together I believe Doc thinks Rondo is a headache. I know people I'm friendly with that I wouldn't want to work with.

Woah woah woah. Doc is done with Rondo because he has Chris Paul. If Chris Paul retired tomorrow he'd give Rondo a call quick.
The real problem there is you have a great player having to deal with a mediocre coach. If people think Doc would have gotten along real great with MJ or think he'd do great with Larry always putting McHale and Chief on the bench you would be mistaken.

I disagree with you EJ, yes Doc has Paul and he is a better PG but the point Jackie Mac was making was Doc thought Rondo was a pain in the (censored)
The subject of Rondo possibly reuniting with former coach Doc Rivers in Los Angeles also came up, with MacMullan responding, “[Rivers is] done with Rondo. I mean, they went a good long way together, but that guy Rondo drives him nuts.”

He's got Blake Griffin and CP3. They're really pullin off miracles down there, aren't they?

and no fireworks... At least not yet. I think Rondo could be dealt though. Still like Doc too eja. The clippers got to the 2nd round for the 3rd time in their entire history and actually won a game for the second time ever for that team. He also got a nice extension from Ballmer. He's doing alright. Better than us last year. I think he was a good coach here too. Those teams had some issues with consistency and Doc actually said from game to game you didn't know which rondo would show up which might have had something to do with it. But Doc was good at team play and getting that group to gel. Ubuntu and all that stuff. Those teams had some serious warrior performances in the playoffs. Players would play for doc.
Rondo and Doc still talk too but I agree he has chris paul. Not happening, but still think Jackie is overreacting and focused on the negative. When pg and coach have a relationship its usually tight regardless of issues they might have. Not every relationship is brady and belichick. Simms and Parcells had a firey relationship but Parcells I bet would still take Simms any day.
I like what Doc has done with Deandre Jordan too. Paul, Griffin, Crawford, Jordan all had career years. The clippers were the 3rd best team in the west. OKC and San Antonio were better. They lost to OKC.

IF Rondo gets dealt my guess is its to the pacers or a team like charlotte. Maybe the knicks or the mavs or Houston too. One of those big market teams. The lakers would be the darkhorse there. I can see Rondo in charlotte for some reason.
There really isn't a whole lot though that's the thing. Unless he goes to the knicks. He may stay.

Id think about trading Rondo for Stoudemire if the knicks can come up with draft picks or something else in the deal and take Gerald wallace. Trading Rondo in the division is tricky though.
If DA is dead set on starting a rebuild we want expiring contracts. The issue is if these deals could be done you'd think DA has been over it anyways and there are probably reasons why they haven't been. So in that regard what Jackie said makes perfect sense. why I think she was telling the truth.
I think it's very possible in that regard rondo does want out although she's kind of blowing it out of proportion and the Celtics are fine going ahead with him. But her comments make me think the writing may be on the wall.
I think the Celtics are going into this season with the hopes rondo plays well and just taking it down to the wire and their sweet time because they aren't forced to make a move right now.

I really think if Rondo is dealt to clear cap space, aka load Wallace, and Bass, it is a mistake. BOS is not known for luring free agents.

Supposedly they want a young star in return for him from what I was just reading.

Detroit really wanted Rondo maybe Monroe for Rondo will pop up again. Seems to me like he's still going to stick for a while though. I still don't see why we don't just keep him anyways. Monroe vs Hibbert not sure who i'd take in that scenario.

Oof if Hibbert and Monroe are the options I'm gonna be pretty bummed. Monroe is a solid piece, but I think a bigman rotation of Sully, Monroe, and KO would get killed on D. And Hibbert has his charms, but I think he is overpaid and has some serious motivation problems that I can't imagine will get better on a young, rebuilding team.

Other than that we got enough draft picks and KO that we can keep going.

I think Monroe stays in Detroit, instead I think they move Smith. I'm not a huge fan of Monroe. He plays awful defense, I don't want to committ to a guy like that for about 15 mil a year when we already have two solid PF's in Sully and KO. Maybe I'm a little high on Sully and KO but I believe one of them will take a big step this year while the other plays a big role off the bench

This is why I don't get the focus on the rondo talk though. Show me something better. keeping him is still the best option. I'd be more concerned with trying to just develop chemisty and build a team that way vs worrying about trades. Maybe as the season goes if rondo plays well teams will get more interested. I'm not sure the Celtics want to pay him that much money, but even still. There could be a 3 way deal where we get Anthony davis and Kemba walker goes to New Orleans in some fantasy ridiculous way which isn't happening. I think from listening to DA the intent is still to try to extend Rondo when the time comes.
There are only so many deals and players in the nba where we can get something of value. We don't really need more draft picks. We have a ton already. If worse comes to worse letting him walk or dealing him for expiring deals and something of value might work but I don't know.
Maybe Chris Wallace will want him and we can get Marc Gasol or something. I don't know. Memphis has Conley and I don't see why they would do that deal. There are only so many players in the nba. These deals I read like trading Rondo for Kyrie Irving I don't get. It's just trading for the sake of it. There has to be some loyalty to rondo. It's like just keep Rondo in that situation to me. He's our guy. If Rondo wants out and wants to play in Cleveland that's different and we get a younger scoring pg. But we have Smart. He should develop. I think Rondo with Smart works because they offer different things. Rondo is a catalyst. Smart is more just a basketball player. I think Rondo can run the show and Smart can play too with him. I think that can work.
I still hope Rondo stays. The Houston deal was sort of interesting but I'm glad we didn't do that now. DA himself said that rumor was a load of crap. Chandler parsons got paid a lot of money and Asik is overhyped. We got Zeller. We got Turner for nothing.
Rondo stays and I get the feeling they are building with him and the rumros really are bs I take fresh and his 10 to 1 odds. I just read the rumors and the internet it's hard to know. We trade Rondo for a center I'll take those odds too. We do something else and this becomes a rebuilding year again and a team caught in between we aren't going to win the division. It depends on what move we make really. Aigne could come up with a good deal outside of that where I still take those odds. I might take them anyways. Those are good odds. Just waiting for the smoke to clear a bit more.
This team just becomes a team where we are showcasing rondo and disjointed it's going to be a boring year.
