This is also why hanging onto Rondo is smart. We aren't selling ourselves short either way but ultimately this team needs to have some direction vs just being a revolving door and going through the motions. I want this season to be the start of that in ways regardless not just rondo rumors all year.
once the kevin love shoe drops we should have a better idea. But we are kind of caught in between right now.

we are developing KO in the interm. Same with S ully. I'm fine with that. Same with Rondo being here but I would say it must be difficult to establish chemisty when these guys don't even know where they ar going to be. Rondo last year really did not gel with the young guys much.

I think Rondo is good but paying a guy 100 million that can't shoot or carry a team offensively is crazy to me

I don't care about paying a guy so much if he fits. That's what ownership is for and why they have the money to do that. It's like the red sox lowballing jon lester to me for no other reason except to lowball jon lester which is silly to me.
That's what players like that get paid. If we are going to keep him then pay the man is how I feel. It's more abuot making that decision of what direction we are going.

I believe the Celtics will be one of the worst teams in the east this year. Paying Rondo a guy who may be on this bad team 100 million doesn't make sense

Brady takes a hometown discount year after year so the pats can put a team around him and the pats refuse to pay people and let players walk year after year. It goes both ways is how I feel. I can understand posturing and trying to do that because the Celtics rely on a team game and not having guys like LeBron james but even still. They have to pay someone.

"You have to pay someone"
That's how bad contract happen. I don't want the Celtics to pay a guy just because "you have to pay someone"

we paid pierce, kg and ray. It's more about waiting to see how rondo fits and committing to him. KG is not LeBron level ridiculousness. He's more like kevin love. Top 5 player. Not the top. We were able to have that big 3 because we had pierce, ray and kg. All top 10-20 players. Rondo fits into that and a lot of scenarios. Even if we go young getting other players eventually.

"You have to pay someone" That's how bad contract happen. I don't want the Celtics to pay a guy just because "you have to pay someone" I disagree. It's how it fits. The Celtics aren't stupid. I'm not worried about that. Bad contracts happen because of stupidity. Teams pay players without taking into account how it fits. I am. Big difference. Usually bad contracts happen because a team pays Gerald Wallace lots of money. Rondo is not Gerald Wallace. Or a guy like Emeka Okafor or players like that. Rondo is none of those guys.

we paid Bradley 8 mil. We didn't throw max money at him or Green. Teams threw max money at guys like Gerald Wallace. Bradley and Green's contracts are about right based on their age, production and talent level and upside. Teams threw money max money at Gerald Wallace when he wasn't a max player.

rondo to me is a max player. He has to prove he fits on this team though to me as it stands. He hasn't proven that yet. 5years 100 mil is steep. we can hope he takes a hometown discount and play the cards on that. I don't think 100 mil is set in stone. that is what he is asking.
getting him for less than that would be better and about right but it still depends whether he fits or not. Otehrwise we are paying a guy who doesn't fit.

Getting rondo at 5 y ears 90 mil or 80 mil is still a lot of money. It more depends whether he fits with us and our direction.

Your right it's not set in stone but you have to plan for the future. Do you just let Rondo walk after the season get a little cap room see if he commands big money or do ou trade him and get more pieces to build with. I will be disappointed if Rondo walks for nothing
