We played an absolutely dominant game last time. The ball was zipping around, the defense was suffocating, and the energy was contagious -- the only thing missing was Isaiah Thomas (oh yeah, and we were playing the Magic).
I'm by no means calling Danny Ainge and pleading him to get rid of IT. I think the results from one game should be tempered. But we're going to be without IT for at least 1 more game (possibly more). And we're going to be playing some tough competition -- first we take on the Raptors, then OKC, and then the Spurs and the rising Hornets.
If we do well in these games, without IT -- well, it definitely deserves some critique, attention and thought. By the end of next week, if we're playing at a high level without IT, Danny has got some serious questions to ponder.

I've been thinking the same thing, but was waiting for one more good showing without IT to say anything. I think most of us would expect the D to be better without IT. What was interesting was that the offense was better too. Better ball movement in particular. Let's see if it continues.

The thing that makes Isaiah really good is also what can get us into trouble. He's a scorer, and especially good off of picks. But the offense can get stagnant if it becomes just IT rolling off of picks and driving to the basket.
Ball movement and guys cutting are what we should be doing more of.

We all know Horford can be a 20ppg guy if he takes enough shots. Could he become a 20-10-5 guy? I think so.

Scoring point guards are a double edged sword, esp if they play ISO too much. With BOS, I think the issue w/ IT is more on the defensive end versus the offensive end, because the other 4-players have to mask his issues (size), which tanks their offense.

This is something to consider as well. But then again, we were a top 3 defensive team last year, even with Isaiah in the starting lineup. If we have success without IT, maybe a move to the bench could be in store for IT. Maybe in the Bobby Jackson/Jamal Crawford role.

Have BOS teams overachieved under Stevens, now are playing as real?

I don't think we can have a lot of long term success without IT because we have too many dry spells on offense, and as happened last night we get to 3-pt happy at times. With IT we can get free throws and he can break down the defense better than the rest of our team. We did look great vs Orlando for the second half, but IMO too small a sample size.

What we seem to be missing most of all is that us against the world "we are one superstar" attitude they had last season. In just about every game, they played harder than their opponents. I don't see that hustle and heart that they had last season. They need to get that back.

There are times when the offense seems to consist of a lot of passes on the perimeter and the ball never even gets to the high post, and then someone fires up a 3. It's ugly. Either someone needs to penetrate or the ball needs to be passed inside.
In spite of that, I think I heard them say we scored 51 points off 42 3's (shooting 40.5%). Pretty good, but the O can get a lot better.
I'm still more concerned about the D though.

The read-and-react needs practice! All 5 guys have to make good decisions. Half of our shots against the Raps were 3's. I don't care how many we make on any given night, that's not good offense. When IT is playing it's too much isolation and the read-and-react is an afterthought. It's OK in spurts, but it can't be our bread and butter. Marcus is the PG that makes the read-and-react work, he was +10 against the Raps and he was guarding one of the best PG's in the league.
OKC will be interesting. Westbrook will get his, but how well can we handle that big front line?
