Refusing to watch this team as long as Mark Blount is on it. Let the blount strike begin. I cant understand why Doc continues to play this guy.

Hard to trade a guy that you don't show? I don't want him to play either. He's crap-wipe. BTW good to see ya CF.

The more I see him the more I dont want him though. Why should anyone else feel differently? plus to play him in crunch time when he obviously just doesnt care. He's no good. It's one thing to be taking the Celtics money, but to be compounding it by making the C's a worse team while he is on the floor and driving his trade value down isn't making it any better. It's making the situation worse imo.

True CF. We'll have to package him with some young potential and/or draft pick, just to move this bum. Cash as well...
No room for crying slackers in Boston.

One idea. I know it would cost us a boat-load of $ - but... Put the bum on the inactive-list for the rest of his contract. Give him no practice time. Just let him walk to the bank. He could have had anothe 8-10 years of playing, but he gets no more. He would never play in the NBA again. Time to start playing hardball with this loser. Take the hit on cash and let him rot. Maybe he could watch the games with Vin at the local pub.

Blount started off good when he first came in, but returned to being the ineffective player that he is. He seemed to put on a front before the game, being all smiley and saying all the right things--but its just a front. He's a moody player and we are better off sticking with Perkins, thick or thin.
I'm sure Doc regrets it now, going hard after Blount in the offseason 2 years ago, trying to convince him to sign with us.

Didn't we waive Vin and get some money back? I kinda forget. Anyway I don't care about trading him any more. I honestly think there isn't a gm desperate enough or dumb enough. This has happened to other teams and they did the right thing. When guys like Calvin Booth turned out to be a $30million bust the team didn't say to themselves "Oh he sucks, but we'll play him more so teams will want to trade for him." They sat him the way they should cause he would lose them games. Playing a loser like Blount just shows teams why they shouldn't trade for him.

I think we used the new CBA to cut free fo Baker and his full contract. I'm not up on the CBA, Mev17's the one to ask.
I'm all for letting Blount rot on the bench, in a sports-coat and dress shoes.

The NBA did pass an amnesty clause - as a result Micheal Finley is playing for the Spurs but is still being paid for by Mark Cuban. Mark simply saves on the luxery tax.
We used the amnesty clause to cut Vin Baker, to save 5.33 million potentially in luxery tax. We still have trade kickers from Antione Walker and Walter McCarty trades. Antione is nothing special in Miami, while I believe McCarty is still in Phoenix but I have not seen him on the court this season.
Jiri Welsch now plays for Milwaukee and made a couple of nice defensive plays at the start of the 4th quarter including a steal and fast break assist.

Yes, we did use the amnesty clause to cut him, but the big move we made was prior to the new CBA, where we suspended him and moved to void his contract. After his first year with us, when he was benched, then suspended because of alcoholism, the Celtic lawyers had Vin Baker sign an agreement when Vin returned to the club allowing the team to void the deal if Vin was declared unfit to play by an agreed upon medical specialist. Then, during Danny Ainge's first year at the helm, Vin did relapse into his alcoholism, and the team suspended him then moved to void the contract. Vin and the NBPA challenged the move and the case was to go before an aribitrator, but the sides agreed to a buyout, with Vin taking $16 million as a buy out to the last three years of his contract worth $50 million. That is why he is currently on the books for $5.33 million per year. ($16 divided by 3).

Close to chump-chainge, by NBA standards. Kinda like Scala's contract is.
Thanks for being around Mev and Q. The CBA can be a bit to swallow.
