Celtics Waive 4

Yesterday,  the Celtics waived Marcus Georges Hunt, Jalen Jones and Damion Lee.  All 3 are expected to go to the Red Claws.  Today, they waived Ben Bentil.  Danny said that he thinks that Bentil will be looking for another possibility so probably won't consider the Red Claws unless he can't find anything else. 

Danny said today that Gerald Green will be on opening night roster and that the 15th spot will come down to either James Young or RJ Hunter.  He said that they are calling teams and asking for a second round pick for one of the two.  I guess he would be fine keeping either the way he said it. 

I don't see a team giving up a second round pick unless they absolutely want one or the other really bad because everyone knows that the Celtics have 16 players and have to cut one of them if they still have 16 players on Monday so why give up a second round pick if they can just pick up the one that gets waived after Monday.

I guess being just a stretch 4 isn't enough to cut it. Bentil is a scoring threat, even from deep -- but he's a volume scorer. He adds little defensive value too.

The other 3 were just warm bodies to throw out in practices.

,My understanding was that ainge wanted to store bentil in Portland.. But he didn't want to..He is from Ghana.. He is probably right.. Someone should want him.. I am kind of bummed about the way this was handled by Ainge.

I'm not sure what is with Nader. He didn't come to camp. The Celtics still own his draft rights and he hasn't been signed yet. I wonder if he will go play in Europe like Zizic and Yabusele. I liked what I saw from Nader in Summer League. He definitely has talent. I also liked what I saw from Yabusele and from what I am hearing about Zizic, he is a beast. I can see Yabusele and Zizic replacing Zeller and Johnson next season.

I thought Nader had agreed to play in Portland this year.

Yeah I think he did now that you mention it. I guess it's a domestic draft and stash. By not signing him to camp they still own his rights whether he plays in Maine or Europe.
