I really thought we were gonna pull this one out. Pisses me off. The players and coaches need to learn that Pierce to Ricky in the final seconds of a game is a lot more effective then Dickau to Blunt.
Too bad the whole offense fell apart in the 4th. Well bring on Philly...

I didn't even notice that. lol. Actually, on a more positive note, in a strange way, I was a lot happier about a lot of the things the team showed tonight in the loss, then on Friday night when we won.
I think Perkins did a great job of putting a body on Howard in the first half. Delonte played well, and other than his porous defense, Dickau ran the break extremely well, and dished out some nice assists.
Ricky and Paul had another good game, and we should all be grateful that Big Al came out of that fall/collision ok. That was ugly.

Not good enough......
We had to find a win out there tonight and once again the 4th qtr execution let us down.
Let's face it. This one is on our coach Doc Rivers for stupidity and Raef Lefrentz for passivity.
Blonut deed up on Dwight Howard, which was encouraging.
This was a case of Steve Francis and Deshawn Stevenson doing us in. Experience beat youth.
Too many turnovers killed our chances, especially in the 4th qtr.
A very disappointing loss.
Frankly, if we fail to beat Philadelphia and Chicago this week, we may be on our way to a long losing streak because next week is simply an unforgiving Texahoma road trip.
Doc Rivers and his lame coaching staff could be in a lot of trouble real soon.
I am just very pessimistic of turning this program around and frankly the injuries to Banks and Allen are very telling.
Doc doesn't appear to have a clue of matchups and worse yet, his prep work was off for this season.
Also, Danny Ainge's decision making has to be called into question.
Progress must be shown soon, or Pierce, RD, Raef, and Blonut will want outta here ASAP.

Sad to hear but thanks Q. The hole is getting deeper. One a coach could dig out of? Lots of young guys to turn the corner.

The season is still young, but this loss is discouraging. For those who saw the game, were Perkins and Al missing assignments out there or something? It seemed by the box score that for the time they played, they were more productive/effective than Raef and Blount, yet Raef and Blount got about twice as many minutes. After reading in the Herald that Doc was going to play the youth more and live with their mistakes, it surprised me to see only 15 and 12 minutes for Perk and Al respectively. My feeling is if we are going to lose to mediocre teams and be below .500, I would rather have the kids play more. Playing the vets only helps if they are winning games.

Exactly, Esco. This game was lot more encouraging than the win we had the other night. There were times where our tempo faded, but for the most part, we had a a nice tempo going on.
Let me say this; we could have won this game if Rivers played Jefferson and sat Raef late in the 4th quarter. Jefferson was following misses, flying down the court on fastbreaks, even as a trailer, keeping plays alive, etc. He was providing energy for us, something Raef had a hard time with tonight.
Ricky's shot was really off tonight, seemingly the worst all season. But hey, he's human and everyone has off nights. Tonight was Ricky's (and Raef's). Though Pierce didn't score as many points, I thought his effort tonight was better than his game vs. the Bobcats where he scored more points. He was having his way against Turkoglu, and what I really liked was him giving up the ball early on the fastbreaks. It helped get us some easy baskets.
Our energy tonight was much better. Delonte was back to being the PG he was at the beginning of the year (attacking the basket). Perkins did a fine job tonight and its time to let him earn his keeps in the starting rotation. He's still far from being an impact player, but he's much more impactful on the boards than Blount.
Blount came in and really looked like he wanted to shed all the negative vibes. He was doing a really good job fronting Dwight Howard and getting his hands in the entry passes. He was also playing with energy on offense, driving to the basket on his very first attempt and finishing nicely. He did cool off at the end and was back to being the relatively ineffective Blount.
Here's what I feel Rivers needs to do.
Start Jefferson and Perkins. Perkins is a much better rebounder and defensive presence over Blount. But the reason why Jefferson needs to be in the starting rotation is because we lack energy at the start of games. Raef is not an energy player and right now, we need to get off to quicker starts. No more fighting to make comebacks, no more clawing to get a lead. Get Jefferson in there and watch him do incredible things just by his energy and athleticism.
