Crowder often slid over to the 4 in small ball lineups last season and that was one of the things that made him so valuable because he can defend the 4 as well as he can the 3.

Pretty unique player.. Should be fun to see him and Jaylen play together. When does preseason start lol

Crowder is definitely thick enough to play some smallball 4. dude is built like a tank. kind of has the same body type as ron artest.

I'm a big Jae Crowder fan as well. He may not be a top scorer, but his defense and his energy sets him apart. I agree with Derren, he is the team's MVP and it makes me happy to think of Phil Jackson fuming as Jae shuts down his superstar as he thinks about passing up the chance to get him. I don't think his defense should be discounted when talking about how good he is. And I also agree that Jaylen has the tools to be a star and the important part is that he has the drive to reach that level. I remember in the mid-00s (pre big 3) that some were questioning Ainge and Co's commitment to scouting other players around the league. they obviously spent a lot of time and capital scouting college and international players, but i according to some they didn't have as wide of a scouting network on players in the league, at least compared to some teams. getting a guy like Crowder in the rondo trade shows they've either used more resources in that part of the front office, or they've just gotten better at it.

Or they got lucky ..The best part of the trade was getting rid of rondo.. He was getting to be a cancer. Not really sure Danny targeted crowder.

I agree that getting rid of Rondo was a very good thing. He was disgruntled and definitelly was becoming a cancer. He made the comment after the trade that he hadn't really tried on defense for a couple of years. That was the point that I was sure I was happy he was gone. As far as getting Crowder. Who was it that said it's better to be lucky than good? It appears that Cuban was trying to give away Crowder before in that Phil Jackson was offered him in the Chandler trade and took a second round pick instead. Glad Danny took him. Now everyone wants him.

I saw that also.. But who knows,in new York he might not have developed.. I think he's a talented player made for our system. Talent is not enough however , you have to be in a system that utilizes your talents..
Hopefully Isaiah doesn't get a big head.. He has made comments regarding being underpaid.. Smart needs to show something this year and Jackson needs to learn to dribble..
