Any player in the dleague can be signed by another team? Am I wrong in worrying about this? From Celticsblog So, it looks like the Celtics can retain his rights at least for this year.

So that's a one year exception? They have to give him a contract before the end of this season or lose him?

I'm not sure what the rules are but it appears that the Celtics still have his rights if he plays with Maine this season. It may be for more but I don't know.

He seems to be a pretty motivated person. I hope he gets a chance.. I like the NFL with non guaranteed contracts..

Not always, but many times guaranteed contracts lead to a player being complacent. That's how you get a player like Mark Blount playing great in his contract year, getting a fat contract and then goofing off after that.
I have been reading a lot of quotes from players who say that they are motivated by the competition for a roster spot. They should be motivated all the time, not just when they have to compete for a spot. I'd love to have all nonguaranteed contracts and I think the players would play a lot harder. The players the Celtics have for the most part have been very hungry and have played hard regardless but it isn't always that way.

I usually give Ainge the benefit of the doubt, but man I was against that Blount signing from word go. That dude just never seemed like he cared about winning or losing.

Mark Blount is the one and only Celtic or former Celtic that I didn't like when he was a Celtic and I can't stand him now. I couldn't wait for them to trade or cut him. There is no excuse for a player not trying on the court. He just didn't care.

Wow. What about Vinny baker? Blount was a role player at best.. Baker made tons of cash off us and tell me he cared.. Blount made peanuts in comparison to baker. And blount played more up to his talent level than baker

Vin Baker let alcohol get the best of him. Mark Blount just didn't care. He played really well for one season and then for no reason other than laziness he stopped trying. It's one thing to succumb to an addiction and another to just not even try for no other reason than you got paid and now don't have to try.

He was a rather stoic person.. I think sometimes people get judged because they don't show emotion. Baker hurt the C's 100 times worse. Why ? He was selfish and didn't care.. But he sure wanted those big paychecks.
