IT is a joy to watch. He has amazing skills, the heart of a lion, and a smile that lights up the room. I love the kid. I already consider him one of the best shorties ever, on a par with Calvin Murphy, and I hope we get to watch him help hoist [HASH]19. BUT...
We cannot continue to ask him to score 20+ points every night, it's not a winning strategy. Brad needs to find a way for IT to contribute when he is not scoring. He will always be a liability on D because of his size, but his offensive game could improve through better decision-making in a more structured half-court offense. IMO he needs to learn when NOT to shoot. If he can't do this his role will be instant offense off the bench. If he can, he could become the next Tiny Archibald.
I have no idea how Brad is going to handle this but speculation is fun. Any guesses?

In a perfect world i think Isaiah is a 6th man of the year candidate off the bench, but I think he's gonna demand near max money, and i think some team out there will be willing to pay it. that's why i wouldn't mind seeing the C's explore trade options for IT4 down the road.

A lot of people seem to think IT is best suited for a 6th man role, and in a perfect world I would agree, but I think he really wants to start and may not want to stick around if he's put in that role. Right now they really need his offense, but if others step up, or future drafts yield a scorer or two, then yes, I would consider moving him.

He's a great person, a one dimensional player. I think he is OK in a team defensive scheme.. What really hurts is us being soft in the middle.. I used to think he was best as a 6th man but then the image of Tyler Zeller,ko and Jonas woke me up..
Trade him while value is high and get a star..

I am surprised - the consensus here seems to be that IT should be traded. Sure, he finally had a melt-down in the playoffs, but he was literally the last man standing, it's not fair to blame him. Do we not have faith that Brad can figure this out? Just because no shortie has ever won a championship does not mean that Brad can't find a way.
IMO he is an elite role-player, and those are very hard to find. As a 6th man he could be the difference. If he can accept that role he is a keeper.

Ya but you can't put him out there with Zeller. Olynyk lol.. So how can he be a 6th man ?

If he can accept that role he is a keeper. I kinda like the term "elte role player". I think the problem is that he doesn't see himself that way, so the "if he can accept that" part may be problematical- especially since he has never made big money and is no doubt looking for a big next contract (and you can't blame him). I think we all like IT, but are just wondering where he fits into the next great Celtics team. In any case, I don't see how we can afford to trade him right now unless he brings a scorer back.

Enter Brad Stevens. That's why I started this thread. It seems that no one sees him as a championship-caliber starter, but as 6th man he has HUGE value. Does BS agree? We shall see.

Does D.A. agree? Pursuing a trade for a scorer.. Might have to give one up..
Why don't we sign Nate Robinson? Play them together

I always liked Nate. He plays hard and was fun to watch. But to play Nate and IT together? What is the polar opposite of twin towers?

I do think IT can be a starter on a championship team. But if we are that good, it'll probably mean IT isn't our top scorer or our best player. He'll probably be our third scoring option, doing most of his damage as a pick and role scorer and a kick out 3 point shooter.

In the playoffs defense is critical to go all the way Righto - the problem is twofold. IT can't match up against tall guards, and he prevents us from playing a "switch everything" team defense. On the other hand, his amazing quickness gives him a big edge in some matchups. Bottom line, we have to be able to win without him when the matchups aren't working. This was a problem last year but hopefully we have enough weapons this year to correct it.
