Pitino did he make any right choices? I can't think of any.. The way he treated Red was definitely wrong.. Drafted Paul Pierce? [br OK. I would consider that a no brainer.I forget who was ahead of Paul or behind him.. As I recall Paul fell into our lap.

Hey, we are talking about Rick Pitino here. He drafted Antoine Walker ('96)and Ron Mercer ('97), both from Kentucky, the same school he coached at before coming to coach Boston. For all we know, he may have been tempted to draft Nazr Mohammed instead of Paul Pierce.

But should he have been aggressive and gotten dirk.. That's the kind of gm we need..
Paul was a very good scorer.. Dirk a great player..
Ya but look at the boneheads who picked ahead of paul and dirk.. Rodney anyone?

On draft night I don't think it was a good idea to try to get a 19 year old German kid. It had never happened before and there was no way to tell it would work. In the mean time Pierce was a top notch All American. We did fine. You get greedy or outsmart yourself and you get Darko.

I don't know that any coach could have made Antoine better.. Guys would say before games he was throwing bricks up..Are you saying Pitino caused his fascination with the three point line? And it was Pitino who traded Joe Johnson for Rodney.. What a dumb trade that was..

The insane thing was, we had the option to include eithe Joe Johnson or Kedrick Brown, and the Celtics chose to keep Kedrick. You can tell talent evaluation wasn't a strong suit for the C's back then.

Dallas picked Robert tractor trailer with the 6th pick lmao It's interesting how years later Pitino said in an interview that they were set to pick Dirk. And how they were so heartbroken to lose Dirk that they hadn't noticed that Pierce was on the board. They started checking around to see if there was something wrong with Pierce, because they assumed there must be since he had dropped so far. they definitely weren't prepared for someone to take dirk ahead of them. luckily for C's fans Pierce was there.

And we had gotten Tractor traylor lol.

When Larry Hughes got picked I thought "We're gonna get him"
