I see alot of Demar Derozan in him. Athleticism to draw alot of fouls. Except Brown will hopefully be a better rebounder. Unfortunately if that comparison holds true, his 3p shot won't improve much.

Onr thing that gives me hesitation about Brown is he doesn't process situations instantly, at least based on what I've seen in games. It's like he gets caught in a situation and he has a million options running in his head.
Hopefully as he catches up to the speed of the NBA his decision making will he crisp and correct.

I think it will. It seemed to improve just during summer league.

Good article. A player with obvious skills who is willing to work hard and accept help from others will often improve their game. Players that don't show improvement seem to be the ones that don't take instruction well and don't work hard. I like Brown's attitude and work ethic.

IIRC, Jaylen has been consulting with former NBA player, Shareef Abdur Rahim. Even Piston great Isiah Thomas.
This is a smart kid.

Unfortunately being polite and polished doesn't translate into court production. He was a risk. If he does well Danny is a genius.. But if he's a flop will Danny be held responsible? Do you think he is more than a role player FL celts fan?

Ainge will be harshly criticized if Jaylen fails to shine while guys like Dunn, Hield, Murray or Bender do.
But then again, if we win a championship, it won't matter if Jaylen doesn't turn out to be anything more than a role player.

That pick should have gotten us much more. I am sure he tried trading down and grabbing one of those. Thon maker looked pretty good in summer league? It always matters. That's a big if Darren.

I think he may turn out to be sorta a Rudy Gay or Richard Hamilton type. Like not quite an all star but pretty good. Actually, Rudy Gay, had he played on a winning team, would have had a much better career thus far. He could have reached star status under better circumstances. Jaylen's game is not that different from Rudy's. I somewhat agree, but I just don't see Gay as a top 6 sf. I just don't think he's the next Paul Pierce for example. Although I do think he would have given 19 year old Pierce a very strong run for his money.

oldtimeball, I think there is a chance that he can be more than a role player. He has the athleticism and the tools to be a star. He will need to improve his shot considerably and that may make the difference between his being a role player or a star. He seems to be willing to work hard to improve so we will see. I agree though that if he doesn't develop into more than a role player then Danny should have to answer for passing up guys who do become stars. But then he's been there before and never had to answer.

Pierce, even though he put up some pretty good numbers, played for some pretty bad Celtics teams. It wasn't until KG and Ray came that he became a winner, and his status was elevated.
Gay, had he been surrounded by great players, would have added more luster and shine to his career.
So Jaylen Brown is stepping into a very good situation. He's already playing on a good team, he's already surrounded by good players and role models, and he has the luxury not to be forced into a role he's not ready for.

He says all the right things.. So did Dee brown. Unfortunately being polite and polished doesn't translate into court production. Dee Brown had a pretty darn good career for the C's. Started 250 games, over 5,000 career points. It's just too bad he had that bad knee injury his second year. he was never the same pysically after that. He would've been a good energy guard off the bench, but those mid 90s Celtics teams were so bad he had to start. All in all a good career for a guy taken 19th in the draft.

There was just so much he could have done. Like what? From what I've read no one really wanted to trade up. The Jimmy Butler stories pretty much say we'd have to give up half the team to get him. the only realistic trade offers (at least the ones rumored) were for jalil okafor, and personally i'd rather just keep brown.
