I have confidence in our medical guys -- which means if we draft Giles, they've looked at his medicals and deemed his knees good to go.
If they are scared off by them, we won't take Giles.
They guessed correctly with Sully and his back.
I personally am concerned about Giles' knees, but I'll wait to see what our guys think about it.

Gotta disagree with ya DM...they guessed on Sully and got lucky at best. The guy was out his rookie year for a large amount of time..think he had back surgery or something. And looking at his overall game logs, he had only 2 years out of 4 where he was in playable condition..the other 2 he was injured in a big way. Then the minute he gets to Toronto, another injury. Hate to say this but his career won't be a very long one.

Teams were scared off because of his back issue, which did cause him to miss a chunk of time his rookie year. But after the surgery, overall, his back did not prevent him from being a solid player for us. He went to Toronto, and had a foot injury, not a problem with his back.
The way GM's were leery of drafting him because of his back (a lotto talent, who slipped to 21), you would have thought that his back would have kept him from playing at all. But he gave us 4 solid years, even playing in 81 games his final year with us. And he'll probably give TOR solid production once he comes back from his foot injury (out for a couple of months, I think).
Considering the average NBA career lasts only 4.8 years, Sully should be able to play beyond the average by a considerable amount.
But what I'm trying to get at, is the medical staff looked over his records and deemed him worthy of being drafted (though, we had the luxury of taking a chance because we had picks 21 and 22). His back held up better than what most GM's anticipated, and he gave the team solid production.
Giles is slated to be picked in the high lotto as well. If we had the 1st pick, its a much bigger gamble -- and ultimately, even though the medical staff says odds are that his knees will hold up, I think the gamble is too great.
But for the record, I would be concerned about a big man who has already had 2 major knee operations even before playing his first collegiate game.

Because we don't already have like 5 of them lol! Nah I'm kidding..if the kid is good then we should draft for talent over need and trade to make way. I'd give up drafting for a talented PG IF there was a big man who was just slightly less skilled or had lesser numbers in college just because of the potential upsides (except for Giles who has no knees).

Oh, you ain't seen nothing yet. Kid is lot more explosive and exciting that what he showed in that game.
I'm itching to see Lonzo Ball playing for UCLA. Not sleeping on this kid being our pick either.

It seems this draft is short on bigs. Unless some from international waters rise up onto the scene, bigs will be in short supply.
Bam Adebayo, for Kentucky, is listed as 6'10", and is really athletic, really powerful, pretty explosive -- just needs to harness is basketball skills. I like the guy, but he's a 4.
Marques Bolden for Duke will probably go higher than he should, just because he's a 4/5.
The cupboard seems bare this year. Glad we have Zizic and Yabusele coming to us next year.

Thomas Bryant (6'10", C from Indiana) really improved his body, and his mobility over the summer. Looks like a team leader too now. Plays a lot like Perk. Can even hit three's (though not at a great clip). Must show that he can be a terrific defender, rebounder and shot blocker.
