I agree that we need to keep Brown at least until we know if he can live up to the potential that he has shown. Kelly is very intriguing because as Fresh said, he is a very good 3 point shooter and is also a good ball handler and passer. He has put on some muscle and was stronger last season and wasn't pushed around under the basket so easily. It will be interesting to see what he does this season.

Yeah, KO would be nice first big off the bench if he ever figures it all out/stays healthy. Dude can stroke it as a 7 footer, and he is pretty good ball handler/passer as well. It'll be interesting to see what he gets on the open market next year.[/quot Kelly Kristich is Danny's style of player

Olynyk is frustrating because sure he can hit three's, but that's when he takes them. Unless no defender is in the vicinity, he hesitates to shoot. We need him to be more assertive on the perimeter; plus that'll open up his driving lane.
And don't get me started on his defense and rebounding. He leaves a lot to be desired.
For me, I'll be satisfied if he's the 2nd or 3rd big man off the bench.

Definitely. I am in no way saying I'm content with our frontcourt depth. Zeller is not enough for me.
Now, maybe Jordan Mickey earns playing time this year. That will be really good for us if he takes the next step. But because we don't know, I'm hoping Danny can bring in another solid, quality big man.

What do you think of the Larry Sanders rumors. He put out a poll asking what team he would fit best with and the Celtics got the most votes. I saw an article saying he was interested in playing for the Celtics. He was very good but hasn't played in a couple of years but he's still in his prime (27 years old).

Yeah, for a reasonable price of course. Maybe like a "prove it" contract that will lead to a bigger payday if he has a good season.

He's the kind of player this team needs.

I don't get to watch the NBDL. Have listened to games on the radio. Mickey does great there because the game is different and lack of competition.
He is undersized. Gets pushed around and is unmotivated. Is a shot blocker with a good wing span?
My question is a undersized guy with no motivation is better than a fat guy (sully)? At least Sully was able to bang other centers around..
As you can see I am not a fan of mickey. I don't see the logic of picking him or ones like him. Pick a athletic body and try to teach them..
What was it that made us draft him?

What was it that made us draft him? I think it was mostly his defensive potential. Dude was an elite shot blocker. 3.6 blks per game as a sophomore in the SEC is crazy. Plus he is has great agility and lateral quickness, so he can defend the perimeter as well. On offense he has a decent midrange J and can put the ball on the floor for straight line drives. His scouting reports usually listed him as having a ceiling of poor man's Serge Ebaka, which seems apt. But I don't know if he'll ever have the strength to make it as an NBA regular. Dude is so thin. Ebaka eventually filled out. We'll have to see Mickey ever does. Not a bad guy to take a flyer on in the 2nd round, but I wouldn't be surprised if he never becomes a regular NBA rotation guy.

Think it was his outside shot.. Danny seems to have a fascination with outside shooting Bigs.. I can't get over him being traded for Joe Kline.. Lol.. Joe was a decent shooter..

That trade was definitely not one of Red's (and Jan Volk's) finer moves. They were desperate for bigs, but man, Ed Pickney and Joe Kline was a pretty bad return for Ainge, who was coming off an all-star season.

Thanks for reminding me I forgot about Ed Pinckney..Ed was OK.. if he had gotten ed and a draft pick do you think that was a good trade?

I think that Danny drafted Mickey because he was one of the top shot blockers in college ball and shot blocking was a need for the team. I think Mickey started to increase his range in Maine last year and wasn't really known as a 3 point shooter before that. He needs to put on some muscle, though.

I was disappointed at his summer league production, but up until then, his trajectory was on a nice upward climb. Hoping to see him continue steady improvements.
I don't think he has anything left to prove at the D-League level. Needs to start cutting his teeth with the big boys.
