That guy with all the talent you want but hasn't really produced? A great team is built on a great bench.
Christian wood? Harkless? Larry Sanders?
We need better bigs. Guys that rebound. Run on the break. Can defend. if defense is a top priority we have olynk Zeller..who just are mostly offensive in both meanings of the word.

Yeah, I agree. Need to have a productive bench. Evan Turner will be hard to replace, for sure.

Do you have someone that is like him? Someone very talented who good coaching can make blossom? I am of the hope that we can break the mold and win a championship with no real superstar.
Can a group of second bests playing as one win it all?

Can a group of second bests playing as one win it all? IMO, they cannot. Basketball is a game that designed for elite players to have success. In NBA History, I think only the 2004 Pistons and the 1979 Sonics are the only teams that have ever won a title without having a top 50 all time player on their roster. And that Piston had some serious talent that really melded together well. When Rasheed Wallace had his head on straight he was an MVP caliber player. And that Sonics team was good, but they also won in a season where there were no great teams. They would stand a chance against today's warriors, cavs, spurs, etc.

I think I might add the Spurs from a few years ago, when they spanked the Heat - even though Top 50 player T.D. was on the roster. Duncan and Ginobili were well past their prime, Parker was no longer a top PG and Leonard was on his way to being a star but not a Top 50 all time player. But they had a brilliant game plan and executed it beautifully. Still, I agree with your basic point, which is that it's very, very rare to win without a transcendent talent. That's why you go after Durant and hoard potential top draft picks like the '17 and '18 Nets picks. A great coach and a bunch of good players who play the right way can usually only take you so far.

The only true way to perpetuate cap space is to find diamond in the roughs like Evan Turner. Players who you don't pay a lot but produce ..

To be honest, we do not have anyone currently on the roster who can replace what ET provided for us, especially last season. He handled the ball well, didn't turn the ball over much, rebounded, defended, and also created plays for himself.
This could be a potentially big problem if we don't continue to make solid moves to improve the talent on our roster.
I think we need to see what we have in preseason. Ainge is working hard on other moves.

Hopefully Danny can find something valuable cheap..

After watching Rozier in Summer League, I can see him stepping up and helping to fill that gap.

After watching Rozier in Summer League, I can see him stepping up and helping to fill that gap. Yeah, to some degree. I think Rozier's breakout year will be in '17/'18. This coming year is when (I'm hoping) things will start to click for him, and he'll understand where his scoring opportunities will come from, what works and what won't work, things like that. Then, the following year it'll all fall into place -- not that he becomes a star, but an effective player in whatever role Brad uses him in.

I guess Gerald can help offset the offensive output we'll be missing with ET's departure.
Not as good with the ball as Turner, and not as crafty getting into the lane, but a far greater perimeter player, especially the 3 ball.
Overall, good move by Ainge. Doesn't cost much. Doesn't affect our future. Helps us out in the meantime.

It's gonna be weird seeing Green in a C's uni again. It's been ages.

But its going to bring back memories. Remember those days, Fresh?? Wow, we had high hopes for the players on the team. Perk, Jefferson, Pierce, Gerald, Tony, Delonte, Telfair, Rondo, Gomes, Powe (and I forget, was it C17 who was adamant that Justin Reed was going to be great?). That was the team that would bring glory back to Boston.
Too bad Ainge had to mess it up and trade away all those potential All-Stars for the has-been Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. What an epic failure that was, huh?

Lol Derren. If only he had kept Posey and allen somehow.. Or found suitable replacements, although not sure of any defensive players there caliber available..
Justin who? Man that was well written..
I love to see potential also.. Hey I was a fan of Glen davis.. If only he had stayed in his role and away from the twinkies. He could give you 16-20 one night and next night force every shot up..

I'm guilty of falling in love with potential. I hate giving up young guys who may develop into stars. Most of them don't become stars but I have this thing about getting attached to players. I still watch EVERY one of Perk's games. I LOVED that 06-07 team. I had so much fun watching that team.
