Which theory of development do you lean towards?
Making young players "earn" their playing time, or allowing young player to "learn" with playing time?
We all know which one Doc uses.

What kills rookies in gaining PT is defensive mistakes. Young players just havent played in the NBA to understand all of the nuances of defense at this level. THats something that comes with time. Thats why I wouldnt be really upset if DA pulled the trigger on a wholesale rebuild*, IF the right trades are there. I hope DA is putting feelers out to find out what he could get for guys like PP, raef, Ricky, and blout. We would suck the baf, but at least we would get to see in the next couple of years what these guys are worth, plus wed get two crazy high picks if we stunk up the joint these next couple of years.
*The sales pitch could be, 'With prices this low, every vet must go!'

But wouldn't you say that making the young players earn their playing time would make them try that much harder in practice to get better so that they can start getting more PT?

I guess I am disapointed, because this seems like another year when I think a player will play mega minutes (ex: AJ, Perks), and the only see limited action.

Well, after tonight's game, we should expect Perkins to get steadier playing time and an overall increase in his PT. He showed that he can keep his fouls under control as well as be a plus rebounder for us.
He wasn't credited with any blocked shots tonight, but he did have one against Okafor that they didn't give him.
Perkins could have pulled down 10 boards tonight, but early in the game, he wasn't able to box out all that well (probably because he didn't want to get into foul trouble0. But as he got into a groove, he began boxing out well and had a number of rebounds.
Now its time for Big Al to start getting regular minutes too.
