And until we start playing defense, we'll continue to look horrendous against good teams.
Without defensive stops where we can keep opponents from scoring on consecutive possessions, we are like a heavy weight boxer landing a left hook, only to leave the chin wide open for a quick counter left from the other fighter. We can't just exchange baskets because its proven that you can't win that way.
We need to get a real shot blocker and we need to become nasty on defense. Set the tone on defense and let the momentum carry over onto the offensive end. We allow to many easy shots inside and too many holes on the perimeter. We ain't going nowhere till we become a better defensive team.
Time for Ainge to look to trade some of assets for defense.

While Derren, how about this lineup:
O'Greene, RD, Pierce, LaFrentz, and Perkins.
Until the Big Men stop blitzing the pick and roll, we will not improve our defense.
Basically, Doc must have them thinking out there, instead of letting them play.
Dickau and Scalabrine are worthless right now. Christ we need Banks and Allen back really badly.
Justin Reed and Ryan Gomes need to play.
And find minutes for Al Jefferson, your future star.

You first change the coach. Theres a reason why he is a career .500 coach. He sucks donkey balls. Gte rid of him and his staff. if someone can kill him and Brown, even better. But get rid of him. Hire someone who will teach the young ones the basics. And most imoportantly, defense and rebounding. Get rid of Blount, Raef, Veal, Dickau. let the fans know if this team is in a full-scale rebuilding mode so tht we wont get upset over a loss. if you want to rebuild, !!!GREENIAC!!! say so and play the young guys. Play AL. play Perk. They might suck every few games, but thats the only way they will ever improve.
Doc has completely forgotten about the young guys. All his choices have backfired on him. West over Banks is a disaster, Veal over Al and Perk is a royal fuckup. If we are competing, we SHOULD be better. there is no excuse for this abject display.
Ainge better take a long and hard look at his FA signings. All of them, barring Mike James, have sucked !!!GREENIAC!!!. Enough. I've had enough. Make up your !!!GREENIAC!!! mind one way or the other and stop consulting the !!!GREENIAC!!! brain doc. All of his suggestions are crap. They should've signed Sarunas, but no, they had to sign Veal. What a joke this franchise has become.

Ricky was a pretty smooth brain doctor pick. And that sarunas didnt want to sign with us, from what i understand.
But yeah, we gotta get the youngns some minutes. we gotta get rid of blount. hopefully his scoring #s will con some team into trading for him. And I hope DA has his ear to the ground listening for possible PP trades, because if we keep losing, we may see a change in PP's attitude.

Q, I've taken a new stance on Perkins, and I don't feel he has enough quickness/explosiveness or instincts to be a top notch dominating defensive Center (which is what I feel we need to really contend for a title). I do, however, feel that he does have defensive abilities to be a valuable backup Center. I would like to hold onto Perkins in hopes of him developing a lot more, but I'm not holding out for him to be an All-Defensive player.
Sprash, granted, not many of Ainge's free agent signings have done well, but you have to also look at the reasoning as to why they haven't really done well. Ainge goes after free agents, but the better ones end up playing for other teams. Karl Malone, Antonio McDyess, and like Fresh mentioned, Sarunas Jasikevicius. Instead we have to settle with Tom Gugliotta. Ainge is trying to grab the better free agents, but its hard to sell our team to them because free agents want to go to a team ready to contend for championships, not develop their young players. The only reason Dan Dickau came here is because he felt sure that he was going to have a good chance at becoming our starting PG. As we start winning more and growing into a perennial playoff bound team, big name free agents will start signing with us.
I can't say that Doc is doing a wonderful job of coaching us to victories, but you can't guarantee that another coach in his place will do better than what Doc is doing.

Keep in mind that we are an offensive juggernaught when we are playing well in our passing offense. We attack in many different ways in which we didn't do last year, and this shows that we are progressing under Doc. This year, we've included more lob passes under the basket, more plays that lead directly to the basket, back door passes, double screens, etc. Just because the offense doesn't run smoothly and the players struggle to know what to do at times, it doesn't mean its Doc's fault. I do fault him for the way he handles player's minutes and for not playing players the right way (in my estimation, he's using Ricky D and Orien Greene wrong). But we'll have to be patient and hope he'll improve in these areas.
If you can think of a better coach who's available at this time, I 'd like to hear your options. Someone on another board metioned PJ Carlesimo (assistant to Greg Popovic), but I'm not too fond of his coaching style.
