Game Notes
Both teams come into this game with one game already under their belts. The Celtics come off of a 102-94 win over the Philadelphia 76ers while the host Jazz lost their first game 90-69 to the San Antonio Spurs.
Once again, the Jazz have some height on their team with the 7'3" Tibor Pleiss, 7' Bangaly Fofana, and 6'10" Trey Lyles. With Jordan Mickey expected to miss this game with a shoulder injury, the Celtics are without a true center and have Ben Bentil at 6'9" and Mouphatou Yarou, also 6'9", as their tallest players.
The Jazz team features their three second round picks from this year's draft: Joel Bolomboy, Marcus Paige and Tyrone Wallace, who was the very last pick in the draft. Bolomboy comes into the summer league with a chip on his shoulder seeking to prove that he should have been a higher pick. They also will feature Tibor Pleiss and Trey Lyles who played for the Jazz last season.
Players to Watch
Terry Rozier made a very favorable impression in his first game for the Celtics. He finished with 18 points on 6-13 shooting, going 2-4 from beyond the arc. He also had 6 rebounds and 5 assists. He looked very comfortable on the court and will be a player to watch going forward.
Jaylen Brown had mixed results in his first game although overall he looked good. He finished with 16 points but shot just 2-7 from the field. He was 1-3 from long distance. His value however was his ability to get to the line where he hit 11 of 17 free throws. He also added 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks. The athletic ability and the tools are there, he just needs a bit of seasoning to make them all work.
RJ Hunter showed flashes of playing well but on defense he tended to foul too much, racking up 7 personal fouls. He finished with 17 points (5-12, 3-6) and 5 rebounds. The promise is there but he definitely still needs work.
Trey Lyles was the high scorer for the Jazz in their first game with 13 points (4-14, 3-6) along with 12 rebounds. The Celtics will definitely need to keep him off the boards.
Dionte Christmas should be familiar to most Celtics fans. He played with the Celtics in Summer League and Training camp in 2012 but was waived before the season. His hustle made him a fan favorite while he was there. He finished his first game with the Jazz with 9 points and 2 steals.
