I hear Al Horford is a really nice guy, and a good teammate. But there's got to be more reason than that for Durant to entice teams to acquire Horford to stand a chance of landing him.
Looking at his basic stats, they are not impressive, and they seem to be on a slight downward trajectory.
Is he really that much of a difference maker that acquiring him would seal the deal for Durant to come on over?

I don't know if there's much validity to that rumor, but the one thing that makes sense is that Horford is probably the 2nd best UFA after Durant. Also, i think he's one of those guys that does a lot of stuff that doesn't show up on the stat sheet. great team defender. i also like that he's expanding his range to 3 point territory.

Is Horford worth a max? Well, I guess lots of undeserving players will be getting the max, so why not Horford.

Horford is definitely worth the max in this market. Since the cap is making another big jump next year, this year's max deal will be fairly cheaper than the max this year. so some team will definitely give him a max deal.

I like Horford because he's a team player. He doesn't seem to be out for personal glory and plays well within the team concept and that would make him fit in very well with the Celtics. I agree with Fresh that the rumor that Durant wants Horford on the team to sign may or may not have any validity. I wondered about that when I first saw that rumor. It just doesn't seem like Durant to put out ultimatums like that. So, I take rumors like that with a grain of salt.
All that being said, I would love to have Horford on the Celtics because of him being a team player. He'd fit right in with the team mentality that is in place here already.
