Celtics take Jaylen Brown with the 3rd pick. That means that they didn't make the trade with Philly who wanted Dunn. I know that Derren wasn't too high on this guy. He doesn't address either of the Celtics' needs - rim protection or scoring. Not sure if he will be traded yet or not. Puzzled why Danny took him.

I don't know much about him but it doesn't seem that he fills a need for the Celtics. But he may be good in the long run. I sure hope so.

Love the Brown pick. He was the guy I wanted most, followed closely by Bender. This team needs a star, and there were no surefire stars available at [HASH]3, but I think Brown has the best chance of the available players of being that kind of talent. dude needs to keep working on his jumper, but he's got crazy talent. lightening quick first step, very strong, athletic enough to guard the 2 or 3.

I don't like the French pick. But I'm not surprised or annoyed that they went for a Euro stash

So, a little research about Yabuseke: 6'8", 7'2" wingspan, is very strong, has quick feet, can shoot out to the arc and also take it strong to the hoop. Apparently willing to stay overseas if that is what the Celtics want.

Yeah, there are other Euros i would've rather had, but that dude is intriguing.

So, a center, a PF and a SF so far. Can't accuse Ainge of adding to the logjam at guard.

We still have Colton Iverson who has been laboring over in Turkey for the past few years. He should be back for Summer League to see how much he has improved.

Zizic probably renders Iverson moot, but we'll see. Don't know the guy's name, but one of the talking heads on ESPN last night called Zizic a steal at 23.
Aside from the physical tools and the smarts, the thing I like most about Brown is that he wants to be great and is willing to work at it. In this one and done era, you are rarely going to be able to draft someone who doesn't have something they need to work on. The question is, will they be willing to do so? They guys who become great, have talent yes, and the physical tools, but they work, work, work.
Yabusele seems to have Sullinger's strength, but with better range and better quickness. Good bye Sully!
Trading 31 and 35 for a 2019 1st rounder seems smart. If Yabu stays overseas for a year or more, Stevens won't have to integrate more than 2 rookies next year as I have my doubt that either 2nd rounder will even make the roster - although I admit I know nothing about them, and I'm sure trader Danny will pull off something this summer.

But if he can impact the game guarding multiple positions, and increase our points in transition (he likes to get out and finish with power dunks), that will be a plus for us. Still, the only way I'm fully supporting this pick is if he can show he's special on the offensive end, in addition to what he can do defensively. Kris Dunn and Dragan Bender seem to be guys who can have impact on both ends.

I think it means that he is either a replacement for Smart since he will be included in a trade, or Jaylen himself will be included in a trade since right now they are about the same player. I don't see Smart being a big part or centerpiece of a trade, but more as a throw in.
