Yeah, Danny cannot trade away too many core players who made us who we are.
The aim is to keep us intact, as much as possible, and add high level talent to it.
Butler would have been a significant upgrade, but the amount, and the caliber of core players we would have lost would negate us some.
I would have been fine if it was Smart, [HASH]3, and some other pieces (future picks, non core players). But Crowder AND Smart? That's a huge loss defensively, as well as taking away a chunk of our identity and leadership.
Middleton is nice, but not as much of a difference maker as Butler.
Nerlens would have helped us anchor the interior defense. Danny must have had his reasons for not doing that trade.

The problem with guys like Noel who can protect the rim but are offensively challenged is they are useless when the opponent plays a guy like Dramond Green at center. Put a 3-shooting center outside and he has to follow, which opens up the lane. No way I would have done that deal.
Talk radio seems to think that the main goal of the draft was to get better next year, but I couldn't disagree more. Most of us are only concerned with one thing, and is getting back to contender status. If that means being patient, I'm all in. We are going to get two more very high first round picks from the Nets. All Danny has to do is not do anything stupid. If by some miracle we land Durant, watch out.

Yup, I don't mind if we don't win a title in the next three years, cause I'm enjoying the improvements we make every year, getting better and better.
If we can be 3 games better each year than the previous year, that means we'd be a 57 game winner in a few years. And we'd be adding top draft picks each year too.
Stay the course, Danny. Take your time if you must, in order to make the best decisions.
