It seems that the Love to Boston rumors have been popping up again. Love has been pretty dismal in the Finals so far. Their fans are even starting a Go Fund Me account to keep Love on the bench. His defense leaves much to be desired. BUT today there are rumors that Danny met with Love's agent. I don't think he's worth the 3rd pick, especially now after he has played so poorly in the Finals. What would you offer for him? Personally I don't want him but maybe Brad Stevens can work his wonders with him. What do you guys think?
Also a lot of rumors out there that the Celtics are trying to make a deal for Butler. Would you trade the 3rd pick for Butler?

Love's poor defense will cause us grief -- but then again, on the offensive end, Brad just may be able to utilize him correctly and get him to be abig scoring threat again.
No, I'm not interested in him if it'll cost us the 3rd pick. But the 16th yes (its unlikely that anyone we draft at 16 will reach Love's level of play).
Now, would I trade the 3rd + players for Jimmy Butler? It'll depend on which players we'd have to surrender. I don't want to mess up our defensive identity too much because that's a big part of why we've become relevent again. So Jae Crowder cannot be included in this deal. But I would sacrifice Marcus Smart or Avery Bradley (in that order).
And I'd only consider this move if it is a precursor to another (bigger) deal. This would have to be the Ray Allen move that will lead to Garnett.

I agree with you derren that we shouldn't sacrifice our defensive identity for Love. I know that we have Rozier who could possibly fill in for Smart if he was traded. He could fill in for Avery, but I think Avery is a bit more important to the team. I wouldn't have a problem trading Sully, Amir, Zeller or Jerebko if we could upgrade at the PF position in the off season. I agree that Crowder should be pretty close to untradeable because of his versatility and how good he is on both ends of the court.
Fresh, I might do that deal, but we would have to bring in more scorers to make up for losing IT.

The one reason I would entertain it as well is that Mike Conley is on the free agent block, and he could be a good target for us. A lot of the good teams don't need PGs, so we'd be bidding against a few loser franchises for him. And does he really want to play in the triangle in New York? That's not a playoff friendly system.
