Am I the only one who has been disappointed in Amir's play this season? In some games he looks great and crashes the board and plays well. In others, he plays hesitantly and doesn't seem to be in the game at all. And, he's our highest paid player. The Celtics hold a team option on him for next season. I'm thinking that Danny may not pick up that option. I think Kelly and Sully have been better than him this season. What do you guys think?

I haven't been impressed either. I would bet that Danny will not pick up his option at that price, unless it's to trade him in a package. I think you'd get more out of Mickey in terms of rebounding, D and offense at a fraction of the price, and with more upside.
We're going to have so many draft picks this Summer that there's literally no way we can keep everyone from this year's team and fit the new guys into a 15 man roster. I expect some major consolidation and there's literally no one on the team that I'd be shocked to see traded or allowed to walk.

The one player I think they need to keep is Jae Crowder. He's a tough competitor and his versatility and ability to guard pretty much any position really are important for a team. He's probably the most valuable trade chip we have but he is also probably the most valuable building block that we have. I think he's the only one I'd say is untouchable if I was Danny. Isaiah may not be untouchable but he'd be close as would Bradley. Everyone else would depend on what you got back for them.
I really like all our players. Some haven't played as well as we could hope, like Amir, but I like the character on all our players and think that character is important in building a cohesive team.

I know Amir is a terrific locker room guy, but yeah, he hasn't been great on the court. Dude does a lot of smart things on defense, but he is nothing special really. Wouldn't be shocked if the C's look to upgrade his position this off-season.

In tonight's game vs the Sixers, Amir had probably his best game as a Celtic. He was active on the boards and got several put backs and played good defense as well. It would be nice to see that play continue.

I read in an article today where Amir was talking about having a foot injury and had played through it and it was finally starting to feel better. So maybe his hesitation had nothing to do with motivation but him playing through an injury.

Another solid game from Amir against the Magic. He's playing with more energy and really being aggressive. Perhaps it was the plantar fasciitis that was holding him back. He's all of a sudden playing like I was hoping he would when we signed him.

It came out that Amir had been playing through a bout of plantar fasciitis which sidelines most players completely. He was finally feeling better and the feet weren't holding him back any longer.

A good reminder that we, as fans, frequently don't know the whole story.

I admit it.. I am a cynic.. Yes we don't have all of the evidence.. I hope he is healthy and productive this year. We need the energy he was supposed to bring when we signed him..

I like Amir and KO, but I just see them both as respectably good players, but not anything approaching all star and I think we really need a guy like that. To me if Smart doesn't get pretty good pretty soon it will be a big waste. If he doesn't then hopefully someone else does (Terry? Jaylen? Mickey?) because I think we really need that to take a step forward.
People are constantly pointing out we are a young team still developing, but I don't actually see tons of development yet.
The developments have been Avery and trades that got good players that then stepped up their games. Like Jae, IT, and to a lesser extent Jerebko. KO took a step forward but not really towards greatness. Sully didn't really develop. He did but not into something you want to pay.
James Young hasn't developed. Terry. He seems to have developed. But Mickey, RJ...we really need to see if they develop. I'm nervous about it. I think in some cases you need to make trades before they become a guy with no value like Sully.

The other young guy developing in Brad Stevens.
Seeing the Terry development is making more sense now. I still would have rather had Portis, but if Smart doesn't develop you may really need Terry. Kinda like when we grabbed Rondo even though we had just drafted Marcus Banks and added Sebastian Telfair.

[b I don't see development from the fringe draft picks either. Perhaps Terry.. I think Sully has value.. Toronto scooped him up as a replacement.. Cheap rebounder.. If we are looking for star potential from those guys.. Yikes! Maybe jaylen.. The only problem with trading those guys is they haven't shown enough. What value do they have ? Does everyone(eja ) think Danny has done a good job of evaluating them and moving on..or being patient..
