:(Has Paul finally bought "into" Doc's scheme of things? Remember during summer camp, when everyone was taking about keys to a successful season? Well, one of the things that I mentioned was the fact of Paul Pierce "getting it". After last night at least, it looks like he got it ! "Trusting your teamates" has been emphasized by the old legends as well. Paul, has realized (even if for that game) that your best palyer should be your best playmaker - no longer should he have to force shots, in traffic, to try to win games when an open teamate could hit the winning shot ! Man, Oh man....I just Luv dis game !!!
With this mentality - The C's WILL WIN many games this season and their future will surely be [glow=red,2,300]NOWWWWWWW ![/glow]

Wow, I'm surprised this thread hasn't been today's hottest topic. And the answer is a resounding, YES!!! Pierce does seem to have "gotten it". I am just thoroughly enjoy watching him play right now, and I wasn't able to say that the past 2 years. Here's a guy I'd have a hard time trading away.
He's now doing whatever it takes to win the game as a team. In the past, it was doing whatever it takes to win the game individually. During Obie's tenure (the year Toine was traded), Pierce was forced to try to do it all on his own because no one else could help him. Last year, he had better teammates, but he still felt that "he" needed to be the one winning the games, and he struggled giving up his importance to the team. But this year, he has bought into the system where team comes first and you give yourself up for the team. Not only Pierce, but the entire team has bought into this way of thinking. Guys are in there to win the game at all costs. The chemistry between one another is really solid, and the energy level is pretty strong. And Pierce is a big reason for this.
And very encouragingly, Pierce is having a career year even when he has been giving up so much of his own self. Its the old adage, "you give up the ball in order to get it back". I bet he's thinking why he couldn't have done this earlier.

Do any of you ever think Pierce could take a paycut when the time comes? I think its possible seeing hes learning about team play and not individuality like he did. He may just say screw extra money, I want to win a ring more. If so, youd have a star player making what Ricky makes or maybe a little more like in the 9m a yr range. Plus, Raefs contract comes off the books then andf its quite a give in that Raef will take way less also. Like try lesser than Blounts contract even. This will free cap space and attract a free agent perhaps. That play by Pierce the other night though, that was like what Larry used to do. He dishes it to the open man to win.
