There's talk that the Knicks may want to trade the 4th pick (if Okafor is gone by then) in exchange for more draft picks (and players, I guess) to help replenish their roster.
First of all, would you want to trade picks and young players (probably anyone not named Marcus Smart, so that means Sully, Oly, Bradley, Young-ey, etc) for a chance to draft at 4? And secondly, who would you target?
I guess I would tackle this scenario by figuring out the second question first. Who would I target at 4?
Well, Karl Anthony-Towns will be gone, most likely D'Angelo Ruusell too. And in this scenario Okafor is gone too, and that's why the Knicks traded their 4th pick away. So that leaves us with a choice of Kristaps Porzingis, Emmanuel Mudiay, Willie Cauley-Stein, Mario Hezonja, Justise Winslow, and Stanley Johnson (the latter three are probably not heavily in the mix for the 4th pick).
Porizingis might be interesting, but he does sound somewhat like Yi Jianlian.
Willie Cauley-Stein is pretty much just here for his defense. Rebounding and offense are not his strengths. Is it worth trading a lot for him? Maybe, maybe not.
Emmanuel Mudiay has big time potential, but he sounds similar to OJ Mayo coming out of high school (albeit with more upside).
Now you can see why the Knicks could be trading out -- not exactly sure fire prospects to choose from.

I'd say it would come down to Krisnaps or Emmanuel, which danny thinks has higher upside.
If we did do this, I'd like Danny to see if he can jump back in to the late lotto if Cauley-Stein slips to like 8-9.
A Krisnaps/WCS front court has some very intriguing potential.

A bit high, but I'd consider Stanley Johnson.

Just saw a report that the Celtics are trying to trade up for Myles Turner. 4 might be a bit high for him but there are also reports that the Celtics may trade with the Hornets for [HASH]9 and that may be a fit.

I kinda think WCS is possibly the best fit (although maybe not at 4...maybe 7) because I think it might be good for this team to have a guy that DOESN'T try to take all the shots. More of a Noah type than a Gasol/Anthony Davis type if that makes any sense.

I think tremendous ball movement like we saw may help us. I am thinking there's a good chance M Smart improves his scoring along with J Young and also Sully will be back. I would be more interested in a guy that scores a little less but at a higher efficiency (especially if he gets more assists) than a guy that tries to force stuff. I think we don't really need scorers as much as aggressors. IT is one. ET tries to be one. Now we need everyone to try to be one. AB takes open shots and makes good cuts. I think we have the offense we need. I think defense and rebounding is the next step. I am relying on Smart to improve his outside shot.

I think trading up to 4 will cost us too much. I want them to target the Charlotte or Denver pick. It's being reported the Celtics could be targeting either WCS or Turner, those are guys that are nice but not the real game changing guys I would want them to give up a lot for.

I agree. I would trade up to 6, though, depending on who is available.

if we move up to 4, I think Hezonja might be the target.

No, unless the package was 16 & 28, which will not net [HASH]4. I rececntly watched clips of Porz, Hezo, via draftexpress.com. Both have long range ability, however too many foreign players have been busts.

Especially if he can be had around #7 Danny mentioned recently that there are many good scorers in the game -- but not many players who can score in the final 6 minutes of a close contested game (I'm paraphrasing what I read him say). I guess you can call these crunch time scorers, high pressure performers, closers if you will. This appears to be the kind of guy, the type of scorer Hezonja is. On this team, we need an alpha scorer (though we do have Isaiah Thomas, he is undersized), or in general we need better scorers.
