Right now I'm watching E:60 Reports with Jeremy Shaap. It's about the 80s bad boy Pistons. I don't get why nobody killed Lambiere. I would have just killed him. Splattered his brains all over the floor. I give Parish credit for punching him in the face twice, but that's not enough....oh there's the steal. Yeah. F U Pistons. F U.

In the 80's, they let the guys play. McHale close lining Rambis, with Worthy pushing Rambis (from retaliating), and Bird escorting Rambis along. What a classic!

I havent seen the E60 special, but I have seen that espn 30 for 30 doc on those pistons teams. It was really well done. Man oh man did i hate the pistons as a kid. i've mellowed out since then, but laimbeer still bothers me. dude was an embarrassment to the game. Bird brought up a good point in one of his books. Laimbeer was a very good player. Dude averaged nearly 20/10 for a good portion of his prime. But all people remember is that he was a cheap shot artist.

This is just me but I think the other players on other teams should have killed him as a matter of principle. Just absolutely cripple him. It was a matter of safety and just not tolerating the kinds of things he did. I can deal with almost every other player on that team, but him. When you go out to play you shouldn't have to be worried about your personal safety just because you want a rebound. if you have to worry about it then he should worry about it. He should have been suspended more and more and fined more and more. I love physical play. But that has nothing to do with play. He's the NBA version of Marty McSorely. You just can't have that.

I despised Isiah Thomas as well. Always trying to be buddy-buddy with the refs, while he's cheapshotting people as well. Mohorn was a punk as well. Mohorn was the guy that was purposely stomping on McHale's feet in 87 after the found out he was playing on a broken foot. But Laimbeer still takes the cake.

I can not recall if there were flagrant fouls or if there were, then how often they were called.

There were, but they rarely got to the point where players were ejected and I don't think they were ever fined very much.

Two words for more flagrant fouls: David Stern.

Calling more flagrant 2s and fining guys was one of the smartest things the league has done IMO. It started to escalate in the late 80s to the point where someone was going to be injured really bad. The Pistons would just decimate Jordan or Pippen whenever they got near the hoop. And it didn't let up in the early/mid 90s. Those Knicks teams were ruthless. The game desperately needed to get cleaned up.
