While I think Ainge has done good with lots of his draft picks, it does seem he may not be hitting it with his big men choices (I'm just isolating the drafts in which we selected a big man, and noting what other big men were available after the pick).
13th pick: Kelly Olynyk (Gorgui Dieng, Mason Plumlee, Rudy Gobert were available after the Olynyk pick) 20th: Jared Sullinger (took a gamble on a health risk, paying off so far) 21st: Fab Melo (Festus Ezeli, Draymond Green, this project did not work out well for us) 27th: JaJuan Johnson (no other noteworthy big men in this draft, but why make this pick?) 60th: Semih Erden (last pick of the draft) 49th: Leon Powe (good pick, bad knees) 50th: Ryan Gomes (Amir Johnson) 14th: Al Jefferson (did good with this pick, no other notable big men after Jefferson)
One big need we have is a really good defensive big man. If we can't trade for one, lure one in free agency, this means Danny has got to draft one. He missed out on some good big men recently, and struck out with JaJuan Johnson and Fab Melo (Colton Iverson not doing so well overseas either).

Besides the 2012 draft, DA hasn't really missed on anything great. Would Festus Ezeli really be the answer? I'll take DA's drafting track record over most GMs.

I'd say that Ezeli has had a more meaningful start to his pro career than Melo has. But the point I'm getting to is Ainge's criteria for selecting big men is interesting.
