That said, I can see Smart having some pretty low FG% seasons, at least early in his career. I'm guessing in the 40 to 42% range. 40% from a PG or a SG is a killer.

It's not ideal, but as long as he grows out of it I wouldn't be worried. Lot of great guards had crummy FG%s early in their career. Check out John Wall's numbers.

My hopeful projection for Smart is that he evolves to be something of a Kyle Lowry. Lowry also shot low %s earlier in his career and it took awhile for him to be the All-Star he is now.

John Wall too started off as a bad shooter

Except, Kyle Lowry has better PG skills than Smart.
Luckily for us and Marcus Smart is Coach Brad doesn't need a John Stockton type to run this team. We have a team that can make passes from multiple positions. Sully and Oly are good passers.
Marcus is potentially a good fit for Brad because of his leadership, his bulldog mentality, and his strong defense. Passing and perimeter shooting may only be average, but his other traits are elite.

Personally I think Smart has largely been a bust so far and I'm hoping he fixes that.

EJ I agree you could consider Smart a bust right now.
Games Min FG 3pt% FT RPG APG BLKPG SPG TOPG PPG 2014-15 Regular Season 23 21.2 2.2-5.4 .400 1.2-3.5 .350 1.0-1.4 .688 2.2 2.7 0.1 1.0 1.2 6.5
Alot of what Smart does doesn't show up on the score sheet. Though I expect Smart's numbers to get better I don't ever expect Smart to be a go to scorer.
