Doc was a chemical engineer during the preseason, trying out combinations to see what works and what doesn't.
Starter Elements:
Pierce LaFrentz RD Delonte Blount (lets back off Blonut for now)
Bench Core:
Scalabrine (Big Red III) Gomes (I like this kid) Orien Greene (Outstanding passing PG) Al Jefferson (Low Post)
10th Man - Perkins (foul issues)
11th Man - Justin Reed (energy)
12th Man - Dan Dickau (if you need quick scoring)
D-League - Gerald Green (Should be one of Vitale's Diaper Dandies).
Overall, I am not sure how this team stacks up to the rest of the league. There will be good times and there will be bad times as well. I get tired of reading the whiners when they lose and those same people latching on to their (the Celtics) jock straps when they win. This is prevalent on other boards.
Boston Celtics this year - 43-39 with a 55% chance of making the playoffs and losing the 1st round.
I have NBA League Pass - so the opportunity is there to call it like I see it.

Looks like a solid breakdown Q... I agree with your rotation for the most part. I see Gomes and Reed as interchangable parts, depends on the need for more offense or more defense.

If our 8 man rotation plays well, we have a chance to win our division. When they play in rhythm, we have an explosive lineup. Defensively, we are rebounding better, but we still need to do a better job of keeping our opponents from scoring too much, and especially from fouling so much.
This team needs time to grow, but it is looking very promising.

Yeah, I see Justin Reed getting time on the court because of his defense. We're probably not going to rely on him to put up double digit scoring, but bring him in for his defensive specialty. Its nice for us to have this option off the bench.

it's good to have sort of a deep bench. We've been lucky with injuries the past couple of years, this will change some day. At least now, we have someone who can actually replace them.

And its even more impressive thinking that 2 of our better players are injured. Tony Allen will give Doc a "good" problem when he returns because he'll definitely be in the mix for regular playing time--but at who's expense? And Marcus is a guy who's defense against PG's is extremely useful.
We can legitimately go 10 deep without even using Perkins and Justin Reed, 2 of our better one on one defenders.

when Allen returns, GG HAS to go to the D-league. No point in letting him sit on the bench all season long.

With the other 2 draft picks coming on, why not put GG in the kiddy pool for a couple months? After that, I want him practicing with the big kids.

I'm still on the fence about what to do with Gerald Green. At times, I think it will be better for him to be playing in games vs. any type of competition, especially in a developmental league because he'll probably be one of the better players there and it'll boost his confidence. But then I think about him practicing everyday against Pierce, Ricky, Gomes, Reed, and Tony and I'm thinking that he can learn a lot from going up against these players. All of them are going to be tons better than any player Gerald will see in the D-League. Plus, with him staying with the parent team, Doc has direct input on what he wants from Gerald, namely what he sees wrong in Green's game and what Green needs to concentrate working on.

I guess I forgot about Banks and Allen.
Banks sounds like he will be outta commision for a while with a bum shin.
Allen has injury and legal issues.
Both could be trade bait along with the trade exception we have for cap ending contract and more draft picks.
Borchadt and Bynum were cut to limit our roster to 15 and neither figure to contribute much anyway.

G Green is d-league material. At least for this season.

No doubt that Gerald Green is developmental league material--he ain't anywhere near ready to be a contributor. But the question is where he'd benefit more. You can't discount the amount he'll learn from watching 5 really solid wing players and going up against them (Pierce, Ricky, Tony, Gomes, Reed).
In the D-League, he'll be going up against guys who are significantly less talented than those I just mentioned.
