I look at our team and we aren't bad and we aren't good. Thornton and Zeller also aren't that bad where they actually fill needs and help us somewhat. We aren't Cleveland yet but we aren't good either. We have a team similar to theirs the past few years but not really. We have Rondo still. We have Sully and KO and Green and Bradley and guys that have played together and might start getting some chemistry.
Rondo, Pressey, Smart Bradley, Thornton, Smart, Babb Green, CJ, Young Sully, KO, Bass Zeller, Favarani, Iverson
We actually look improved from last year. We aren't great but KO and Sully are solid young players and have a couple years u nder their belt now. A lot of messy stuff on our roster with Gerald Wallace, Bogans and Joel Anthony in there too and players I don't see longterm but our roster actually fits together at the same time.

Rondo, Bradley, Bass and Green are good veterans. Smart, Sully and KO are good young players. Nothing great here minus Rondo but we aren't completely devoid of talent.
Pressey, Thornton, Babb, CJ, Young, Zeller, Favarani and Iverson kind of fit into that wishful thinking. Good cheap talent on short contracts that can fill a role possibly.
We don't have a lot of bloatware except Wallace, Joel Anthony and Bogans to me.

The trade is good because ainge basically got shortterm cheap contracts for our trade exception and cleaned out our roster somewhat. We can basically let Bayless and Humphries walk now.

In the East anything is possible but I would definitely bet against it. With the roster as-is I would guess we'd win in the 28-30 range.

If no further additions, I think the Celtics will win around half their games. In the Least Conference, that will likely be good for a playoff slot. With some 7-footer's to hold down the center position, allowing Sully and Olynyk to develop at their more natural positions should give Boston a better front court in April than in November. If Thornton is motivated to play defense (No D, No PT), the rookies grow into sophomores, and Zeller adds strength and bulk (since he won't be recovering from an appendectomy like last year), then I think the improving team will benefit from the youngsters gaining some playoff experience. Won't be contenders but might be a disagreeable opponent in the postseason.

FRESH=REALITY I like philly roster more than our roster right now. Charlotte Washington Milwaukee Chicago Indiana Knicks Brooklyn Miami All better than us easily in my opinion. I think we will win less games this year than last year.

I think the Celts are in line for about 37 wins. Maybe even 42 since Rondo is here all year. I think they cooouulllddd get in the playoffs but they'd need a bunch of things to break their way. Here is a list No significant injuries (looking at you Bradley and Sully) Young guys take steps forward (looking at you KO and possibly Iverson) Smart plays well enough to make a decent all rookie team Young also plays reasonably well Wallace plays well enough to be considered a 5th stringer, which would be a major step up from last year Jeff Green stops getting outrebounded by hobbitts (it'll never happen) Zeller turns out to be a decent young guy
I don't think all that happens
More likely the coach puts a lot of emphasis on growth (meaning losing and tanking the proper way) and we lose a lot and head back into the lottery with like the 8th pick, meaning we end up picking 9th. A few key injuries on other teams

I think we have to show toughness and mental resolve which this team hasn't shown yet. Last year was a lot of going through the motions. I think a lot of that has been taken out of the game though except teams like San Antonio who are more veteran teams from a different generation. They turned up the heat on Lebron and LeBron melted.
I'm not even sure our resolve or direction this year will even be to win games this year. It's one thing to say it, it's another to do it.
A lot of people still want this team to end up in the lottery. We do need more talent but different ways to get that.

I like our roster the more I look at it. It's missing some things. But our guards are really solid. We are a pretty solid team throughout. How it all fits together on the court remains to be seen though.
KO or Sully becomes a star with Smart coming in we have pieces though. Our roster isn't hopeless.

NO I don't think we will make the playoffs. I think we will make some moves and lose some of our vets. Orlando, Philly, and the Bucks were worse then us last year, this season I think all of those teams will be better then us. Is that crazy?

I'm not buying the hype on philly so much but a lot of people like them so could be wrong. They have Nerlens. Their pieces don't really fit. They are so young and do they have anyone who can shoot on that team?
I like our team better than them for some reason. Our pieces fit together better and we have just as much talent imo.
The question to me is are we going to have any direction with Rondo or is just going to be a season of trade rondo. With rondo and direction we are better than teams imo.
I think Nerlens may have a breakout year this year. Carter Williams should continue to be good too. But compared to us KO, Sully, and some of our other pieces I like better.

Milwaulkee is kind of the same thing to me. They have Parker but he's really young. He's not better than Jeff Green yet. It depends what happens with Rondo imo because we could be the worst team in the league if we want to be. It depends what we want though. With rondo and green and ko and sully breaking through this year though we have pieces.

watching KO in summer league gives me hope I guess. I was really impressed with him. Nerlens was probably the other player that impressed me. All these guys are too young. Smart could contribute in a role.

I hear you on Philly we could be battling it out at the bottom of the east with them. As far as Milwaukee Parker is NBA ready, The Freak will be good and Sanders was out all last season

I'd be shocked if Philly won more than 25 games. They are still deep in the rebuild phase. Milwaukee is a wild card. No one expected them to be this bad last year. If Sanders doesn't put it together next year they may be in for another long season. But if he does go back to his 12-13 form, they could win in the mid/high 30s IMO.
