This was a "meh" draft for me. It could turn out to be a "wow" draft, but that's if Smart and Young take huge leaps in their development.
I'm not excited about Smart's offense and PG skills, though I am ecstatic about his defense.
James Young is just a 3 pt shooter. His handle is weak, and he has no offensive creativity. But it's his 3 pt shooting that's going to be valuable.

What struck me about this draft is how hyped it was. These kids are so young. They are a different generation and breed of players that I grew up with. Quirky personalities but Smart seems like a smart guy. A lot of it is image though with some of these players. I still think Smart is going to be very good though.
Yo u just look at smart and what he's wearing with the glasses though and everything. He's Marcus Smart. Still seems like a cool dude. I also think Smart is actually a very tough player and smart on top of it.
I'm getting older though. If I was younger I'd probably be really excited about this pick and still am. He's the type of player I root for. Big fan of emmitt smith because of his intelligence and I think Smart is kind of the same thing. Short and stocky and a bull and tough player. It's not just image. I'm going to enjoy watching him.
I also think he's going to be a much better player than you think. He can play b oth guard spots and is a really unique player.

I like players with real character. I think Smart has that and it's not just an image. That fan he went after was a jerk. It's different for me than when I was younger. When Emmitt Smith fell in that draft I knew it and was so excited. Now these guys are kids to me but I can see it just in a different way.'
I like that Danny just stood b ack and did the smart thing. No pun intended but he did. Smart. Danny Ainge is smart. My posts here the past couple months are funny too. Unintential in ways but still makes me laugh. the karma in the love stuff and smart and young and everything in between is just funny.
Young is also a supremely talented player and is very young. He was a top prospect at Kentucky playing for Calipari. Gritty talented hardworking players. More talent in DA's wheelhouse.
We were smart. We got Young. now we need Love.

3 years from now, I can definitely see Young developing into our 3 pt shooter off the bench. The kind of shooting depth that the Spurs have. Young can be our Danny Green.

I feel like DA has been drafting very good backups for years now. Sully, Avery, KO. Arguably James Young and Marcus Smart. I hope he finally gets an all star type like he has in the past or at least a good starter like he did with Perk

I think the spots where BOS is drafting is part of the issue of finding 6th men, versus finding starters. Finding the best player in the draft, which happened when Rondo was drafted is almost as likely as landing the top selection in the draft.

I think in a couple of years Smart will be the caliber of player that will start on most any team.

Danny has enough draft picks to move in upcoming drafts. Just finding the right players now.

Danny has enough draft picks to move in upcoming drafts. Just finding the right players now. Great point. Danny has the assets to move up, like he did in 2013 to nab KO which is the player he really wanted. Some drafts, one or two slots can make a difference.

Or Dennis Schroeder, or Rudy Gobert.

Yeah, I was big on Schroeder, followed by the Giannis. Rudy wasn't really on my radar. I never gave Olynyk much thought, b/c it didn't seem like he'd be available when we were drafting. I'd still rather have Schroeder or Giannis, but KO has been solid.

I don't know about solid. He'd be a terrific backup if he showed consistency.

Or Dennis Schroeder, or Rudy Gobert. Yeah I was a fan of Schroeder too, right now he is a perfect fit in ATL as the back up PG. When is comes to Gobert I thought he was going to be a project that may not pan out, I couldn't have been more wrong. Gobert is going to be a good starting Center no doubt.
