Scratch Embiid, Parker, and Wiggins off the list. Most likely Dante Exum too. We're probably not going to see these guys when its our turn to pick. But these guys very well could be on the short list to choose at 6:
Julius Randle
Noah Vonleh
Aaron Gordon
Dario Saric
Marcus Smart
Julius Randle: Powerful, agile, talented. But defense isn't his strong suit, and we already have 2 young PF's on the team who are offensively talented but not so well versed on defense. If Ainge takes Randle, its because he see's the potential on offense and on the boards. A quick twitch lefty who can come at you from many angles near the basket. He's a quick leaper (not necessarily a high leaper), which helps him get an edge on offense as well as on the board.
Highest potential: Numerous time All-Star
Safe guess: Solid starter, putting up Sullinger type numbers
Noah Vonleh: 6'10" with a long wingspan (7'3"). Not an explosive athlete, average lateral quickness, not a quick leaper. Length helps him get and advantage when taking a shot over his defender in the post. Can handle the ball a bit, but limited. Can hit three's, but needs both feet set first, and the rhythm to get off his shot is a tad bit slow. Defensively, has a strong base which helps him to hold his ground in the post. Length makes it hard for his man to get a clean look at the basket.
Highest potential: Solid starter who provides some scoring and good rebounding.
Safe guess: Cracks the big man rotation on a contending team.
Aaron Gordon: Really good athlete with solid frame, height, and length for a SF. Quick twitch, gets off the ground quickly, high leaper. Aggressive to the basket. Can finish at the front of the rim with dunks and finger rolls. Stout defense. Stays close to his man and stays in his pocket. A step ahead of his man defensively. Shooting mechanics need improvment, currently a poor shooter from anywhere on the floor.
Highest potential: All-Star if he develops a good jumper
Safe guess: possible starting defensive specialist and slasher
Dario Saric: I'm really limited with my description because I've never watched any of Dario's games. All I can do is go off of what I am seeing from his videos. For a 6'10" guy, he runs and moves really well. Can be a bit mechanical, but will not be an awkward SF. Can legitimately play a power Small Forward. He can accelerate quickly, and stop and go. Lateral movments are average. Handles the ball well, even at full sprint. Looks comfortable running the offense. Fiery competitor. Can shoot the ball some, even from beyond the arc. Catch and shoot, quick pull up, and with feet set. Needs to work on his post moves, especially his footworkl. Passing seems good.
Highest potential: An occasional All-Star appearance
Safe guess: starter who can contribute as a passing SF
Marcus Smart: Strong body with good wingspan for PG. Defense is his strong suit. Good leader on and off the court. Shooting should improve with more time devoted to improving his form. IMO, he's not creative enough to be a star player. I'm not convinced he can excel as a passing PG (I see him as a career 6 apg).
Highest potential: Solid starter who gives you good scoring 15 ppg and defense (2.0 spg)
Safe guess: Combo guard he battles for starting minutes
