What did everyone think of their respective team's first round pick(s)?
As a Vikings fan I thought Barr was a solid selection. He's definitely a project, but he has sky-high potential.
I loved trading up to get Bridgewater. I thought Bridgewater and Aaron Murray were the best QB values in this draft. Happy the Vikes were able to get 1 of those 2.

I'd feel better if I trusted Jerry Jones. I think drafting oline is good and building with that. Seems like they got a good one too. Taking that over johnny football I'm not sure. I can't tell if JErry is being smart or outsmarting himself anymore. Might be trying to build that line like the one that got him a championship. It could be his ego and him just playing it safe. He's spent 3 of the last 3 drafts first round picks on lineman. It could be Mark Tuinea here it could be a guy who doesn't live up to that potential. Lineman can be found later. I don't know about Romo either. His contract is massive. His back is terrible. He can't scramble anymore and his decision making in the clutch and intelligence has always left a lot to be desired. They had the worst defense ever last year with one of the top defensive players in Ware and let him go.
I keep hoping the cowboys can put it together. They have been nothing but an 8-8 team. Poor defense. Poor offensive line play. Limited skill players. Romo, Dez, and Murray all have potential to be t op 10 players at their positions with a good offensive line though. Witten is a top 5 te and probably top 3. They have good depth at positions on offense. Can you build a championship with that and Romo aging and a good offensive line? If the cowboys concentrate on defense the rest of the draft I'll be happy. Overall though mediocrity in dallas seems to be the thing. Murray is not that good in big games. Neither is Romo. I would have liked the Manziel pick because it would have at least shaken things up.
I like the patriots pick. It was a gamble late in the 1st round. That's how you should draft imo. It could turn out. It might not.
As far as the cowboys i never trust a safe pick or taking a player based on need or where a player is rated consensus wise. The cowboys best drafts in the late 80's early 90's the experts panned them. Maybe times have changed and the consensus is more accurate but I still doubt that for some reason. When jerry is trying to be smart and take players that way it's not good. You have to have a gut instinct and ability to evaluate yourself. Like Belichick.

The Pats just had the injury year from Hell with both of their major DTs having year ending injuries and over the age of 31. So what do they do in the first round? Draft a guy with not one, but two ACL tears before the age of 23. Oh and in free agency they brought in a 33 year old DE who missed all last year with injuries. For whatever reason this team is addicted to guys with injury problems. Ras I Dowling. Gronk. If you were a pretty good player, but couldn't stay on the field the Patriots are the team for you.

A friend of mine says that he loves Billechek's ability to make trades in the draft, but he hates that he blows so many first and second day picks.

I like how the pats think. They seem to see the bigger picture where other teams don't sometimes. That's just the nature of the draft sometimes when you have a guy like Brady you have to just gamble a bit. Jerry on the other hand is sticking with Romo. I like Romo but Manziel was really a newer younger more exciting version. Jerry decided to let Ware walk and try to replace him and get a stud Oline and fill pieces around Romo this draft. The cowboys have solid pieces. I just think Romo is 34 and Aikman is worried about his back for a reason. So you gamble on that instead of the draft. Other QB's are going to come along but I really liked Manziel.

At least Jerry picked defense day 2. Got a nice pass rusher in Lawrence and Ben Gardner looks decent too. They got 2 fast and hitting LBs. That receiver they got should slot in as a 4th receiver behind Dez, Randall, Harris. The cowboys still have a good team. Romo........... I think he can be a championship QB but he needs to get his head out of his (censored) or he's going to be out of league before he knows it. Zack Martin is a really good offensive lineman. I can't really argue too much.
