Pro football is the most popular sport in America for at least the 30th straight year. That's according to a survey taken this month by the Harris Poll, which has been asking adult fans, ages 18 and over, about their favorite sport since 1985. In 2014, 35 percent of fans call the NFL their favorite sport, followed by Major League Baseball (14 percent), college football (11 percent), auto racing (7 percent), the NBA (6 percent), the NHL (5 percent) and college basketball (3 percent). espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/10354114/harris-poll-nfl-most-popular-mlb-2nd_______________________________________________________________________________________ Is it just me or is interest in the NBA falling? Or has it never been that high?

I'm pretty surprised at those numbers although I don't know too many people who are into the NBA like I am...NFL will always be number 1 because of how important each week/game is...I'm just surprised people still like the MLB that much. It's not a good sign when auto racing is higher than a sport with players like Lebron and Durant.

Does make me wonder...as much of a basketball town that Chicago is, would the Bulls be more popular than the Cubs if the Cubs were a good/decent team like the Tampa Bay Rays? I mean if the Cubs were halfway competent, would the Bulls still be more popular than them?

Seems to me when the cubs are good they rival only the bears for popularity.

Also, I think one thing that helps the MLB is it seems like a lot more women like it compared to the other major sports.

^That's an interesting point. I'd like to see the rankings of the sports by male/female...or even ages 18-29, 30-39, etc. to see any significant differences between fan groups.
Also, even here in Boston, where do the Celtics rate if all the teams are good...Probably 1. Red Sox 2. Patriots 3. Celtics & Bruins (tied)...Or at least that's what I think based on the coverage and people I talk to. The Red Sox can stink and they'll still get more coverage than the Celtics when they are good. It's baffling to me mainly because I've grown to completely dislike baseball and it's crazy long games/season.
