With a team full of aging vets and injured stars, how are the Nets going to pull out of this mess they got themselves in?
Not that I want them to get good -- the worse they are the better our future picks are going to be. And that's the thing, is there any chance they can be good over the next 4 years to ruin the possibility of giving us really good draft picks?

Get a different coach, owner, and players

Not really. KG and Pierce will be gone. Joe Johnson will be the albatross contract along with a declining Deron and often injured Lopez. They look destined for mediocrity.

I still think they will make the playoffs, but they will be crushed by the Miamis and Indianas of the world.
KG is looking spent right now. And they are still stuck with his contract for another year (though I wouldn't be shocked if he retired). King is really gonna need to hit on their 2015 first rounder. That team desperately needs more talent, whether to keep on the roster or for ammo in a trade for a veteran.

Brooklyn needs a GM like Donnie Walsh to clear salary space. Billy King has been like Isiah Thomas, under the direction of the owner's approval, to trade for better players w/ worse contracts. Frankly, I don't see Pierce re-upping w/ the team, and I see KG retiring at the end of the year.

Yeah, Pierce and KG were supposed to go to a good situation and ride off into the sunset as they chased another ring -- but sadly it isn't looking like its going to happen. I can see Pierce and KG retiring after this year (Pierce might play on if one of the LA teams makes an offer to sign him).
Maybe Brooklyn tries for Melo?

If Boston moves Green, next off-season I wouldn't be shocked if we sign Pierce to a one year deal for him to play one final season in Boston.

The Nets are 2 games above .500 after a horrendous start to the season, and are safely sitting in the 6th seed of the playoff race, and only trail the Wizards half a game for the 5th spot. We're most likely going to get their draft pick, which would be #17 if the draft were today.
