I'm anxiously waiting to watch Orien Greene in action. I did get to see a few film clips of him in action, and I liked what I've seen from that. That, plus his scouting reports, plus Ainge's optimism for this kid, along with Rivers' recent praise for the guy, makes me think he can be a really good player.

Oh, I think we will. Rivers needs to do a good job of letting the PG's get ample amount of time to do their thing.
At this point, I think Banks is still considered the 3rd PG on the team, but Orien is coming on strong and Rivers says that Banks is still up and down (read today's Herald that BC has posted on the News section). He may be the 3rd PG for now, but that can change this preseason.

Didn't Rivers say Orien could play D, at an NBA level, at the 1 or 2 ---- now? Kinda takes a bit out of Banks and the need for his game, if it's true.
Lots of questions still.

Yeah, Rivers has indeed said that about Greene. He can be a solid defender against PG's and SG's. I think early indications are that Orien runs the offense better than Banks.

I sure haven't heard much about Banks yet. Not sure if silence is good for him, at this point. At least as being in green for long.

Rivers made comments about him in today's Herald (10/11). BC has it up already. Not looking good for Banks. Rivers says that its the same old thing with Banks--he hasn't developed the ability to play consistently or run a team. The Banks experiment may soon be over if he doesn't step up this preseason and Orien Greene does.

I bet it comes down to future value. West can play some D. Banks had his chance(s). Orien's turn, I think. Even with an injury, I could live with a defensive back-up, in OG. Put me out-on-a-limb.

Well, if that's the case, Ainge should move Banks now and get what he can for him. His value might drop if Orien moves ahead of him and we won't get as much if that's the case. If we head into the season with Banks as the 4th PG option, he won't get much playing time. Rivers also asked Tony Allen to work on his PG skills and from what he showed last year, he's very capable of handling some PG duties here and there.

I have no idea why Rivers asked Ricky to handle the PG duties when Payton was out. He is a terrible ball handler. Pierce has better handles than Ricky. Hopefully we won't have to use him as a spot PG anymore.

I really wanted banks to move to the "next" level, but according to what Doc is saying - it hasn't happened yet! I knew that Orien could play but the question was how he would have recovered from the surgery. So, far, it seems that he is ready to compete - he wasn't expected to be in camp! I dare to say, that Orien, WILL be the backup PG ! He has size, savvy, plays NBA defense, creates for teamates and he can do things when there seems to be no way ! Watch out for the "GREEN'S" !!!!

No one is really expecting Orien Greene to be our PG of the future (mainly because no one has really seen him in action). But these are the types of guys who sneak up from behind and take the thunder. Greene is a unique talent because he's the opposite of a tweener. Whereas a "tweener" is a smallish player who plays a bigger position (most notably a SG in a PG's body, or a PF who's too short to play the position), Greene is actually tall enough to play the 2, but his game is more like a 1. And a real 1. He's not a PG with a scorer's mentality. He's a PG who looks for teammates.
If this kid can show consistent improvements on his jumper, he could easily move up the chain to the front of the line.
So BG, you think Orien will be the backup--do you think Delonte will be the starter and Dickau the 3rd stringer? Or the other way around?

No one is really expecting Orien Greene to be our PG of the future... Here's one that does. Couple years down the road.
