...and I started reading some other rumors on the C's board, and I startied tooling around with an idea that will forever be known as...

Im not saying that I endorse this. My fabulous brain just came up with it on its own, so dont blame me.

OK, we start with the the festivities off with the supposed Raef/Rose deal. Wed have to sweeten the pot a little bit, So lets say wed throw in Woods, Banks, and a boatload of 2nds rounders. If need be throw in a protected 1st.

Then we talk to Minny about trading BLount for Kandi. Minny is getting sick of his crap, so we could have Blounts agent tell them how much he wants to play for a contender, yada, yada, yada. THrow in a 2nd rounder if neccessary.

Now the big one. We trade PP to the clips for Magette, Cassell and 1, poss. 2, first rounders.

Then, we move Jalen for a expiring max-contract big. Poss ADavis. Since NY is getting a huge talent upgrade, try to talk out of a protected 1st. I think they still have one of houstons picks.

So after next year our salaries would be(rough guess)

Yikes. THats a lot of cap room. We could get two max level guys (in reality only one, ig some of our rooks earn big contracts). We would also have a ton of picks coming up, and Im sure wed have a pretty high lotto pick, considering that that roster prolly wouldnt set the world on fire. But wed have potential up the wing-wang.

Think we could sweet talk LeBron into coming here?

I think there was too much to digest in that whole scenario. My brain, which also thinks on its own without my permission, usually works on one trade at a time. It doesn't think in terms of domino effect--where one trade leads to another trade, which leads to another trade.

Well we all know what cap room is worth to the Cs not much at all. I think if we are going to Trade PP/Raef and Blount we need to get back someone that you have in our future plans even if its a mid level player.

i would never make a trade for a player that sucks (as a principal player in a deal) unless there was a good reason like getting a lot of cap space, or awesome picks, or getting rid of a player who sucks worse. Every player in the league named Rose sucks. Malik isn't bad if he's playing on a minimum contract, but i think most of our roster is better than him. Even if you plan on moving a guy you trade for you could be stuck with him for 6 months. Screw that.

Making trades can be gambles. I agree with eja overall though. I mean why trade Blount and Pierce lets say for Jerome James, Antonio Davis and Crawford or Marbury and Jerome James unless NY offered 3 first rounders and Boston offered 3 2nd rounders. Then maybe its to consider. But even for that, I wouldn't want Marbury as my teams star player for nothing. unless his deal expires and maybe not even then. Antonios contract expires though plus 3 1ss would be coming so that might iron out in its own way.

The only trade out of those that I mentioned that I wouldnt do would be the peirce trade. Id def trade Raef to Tor, just to get out of that contract. Id also trade Blount for Kandi, if for anything else, to get rid of his awful deal. Pierce would have to be pretty unhappy for that CLipper trade to make sense.

I can live with Raefs big deal. This team still needs his contribution. Look at where they were without him in 03-04. 36-46.

Thats the thing I think Raef gets a short end of the stick but really if we trade Raef, do you trust Blount to be your Center, Perk yet? Sadly I am not ready for either of them to be back in there for 30 mins a game. Raef while not a marquee center, does his job well enough and at least he tries. His contract may be an albatross, but you aren't going to get back an equal player for him unless you sweeten it alot. And even still its not going to be worth it as long as Raef is healthy...
