I would not underestimate Bynum. But I do think if push came to shove, Ainge would likely hold onto Banks.

Yea of course. Banks is a great defender. Bynum is whos going if anyone. Bynum and Banks will not be on the same team together I doubt.

Yeah, frankly because its a numbers thing. We just don't have the roster space to keep both Bynum and Banks. Bynum is more competitive than Banks and he has a bigger heart (and he seems to be the type to come up big when its needed). But Banks has got him covered in the athletic, the defensive, and the quickness departments. Plus too, he's been with the team longer and has more chemistry with the players--if Ainge is factoring in these intangibles.

Yea true. It may be a tough decision at first but when push comes to shove, Banks is kept.

Which is more impressive:
averaging 6.1 apg on a high powered offense
or
averaging 5.2 apg on a weak team with little talent?
GP gave us 6.1 apg last season while Dickau averaged 5.2 apg with the lowly New Orleans Hornets.

You think hes gonna be a bust of a player for us? It seems this is what you are indicating.

No, I'm actually thinking that his numbers with the Hornets are pretty solid. I mean, being able to come close to averaging the same amount of assists per game as Payton did, except playing on a team that is not nearly as offensively talented as we were, is pretty amazing.
I'm beginning to wonder how many assists he can average when he's playing on a team with a lot of offensive firepower.

Two points
-First, I agree that Banks has more actual talent than Bynum. He is more athletic, and has a higher ceiling. But, I 'm starting to think that Banks has worn out is welcome in Boston. (He was already traded once before.)
It's a numbers game now, and if Ainge thinks that they can get the same production from their third guard from Bynum as we would Banks, plus his contract is way cheaper, Danny will move Banks, and stick Bynum in the NBDL.
-Second, I think averaging 5 assists on a team with no offensive weapons is better than averaging 6 assists in an offense with offensive weapons. I am not saying Payton is a better player than Dickau. I am saying his playing style will fit this team better.
I liked the way Payton played for us last year. I really had no complaints about him. He ran the team well. But Dickau is younger, is a better shooter, and likes to run even more. He will make teams pay for doubling on Paul or Big AL with his outside shooting. I say in our offense he could average 7 assists.

I agree w/ that analysis of Dickau's stats being under-rated, because of the lowly Hornets. Assist wise, he has the potential to put up some good nuymbers.

Yeah, I've been wondering the same too. If Dickau's the type who moves around the court with his head up all the time to look for players, he'll find a lot of option s to choose from.
Esco, another plus for Bynum is that he plays with direction. He's not about flash and pretty moves. He's very direct in what he does.

I still going with Delonte over Dickau because of DW defense. Don't care if you can put 11 pts 5 ast. on a crappy team especially if you're giving up more on the other end of the court.

I agree JHVOS. The only concern I have with West is injuries. I thnk that's why DA wanted to bring in Dickau. Insurance...

I can deal with a PG limitations if we're giving them little money. Its when we're dishing out over 5 mil for a guy who put up 1 good season. Atleast this isn't the case either. I'll take a PG for 2.5 mil if he can shoot/pass the ball efficiently. Thats why I'm not a totally bias against not having Dickau on the roster.
But, I would not be shock if Dickau turns out to be a bust for us. Its not he's going to see the same amount of playing in Boston like he has with NO.
I hope DW isn't injury player becuz when he started at PG he was putting up good numbers for us. Not to mention he is a very scrappy ball player which I love to see from our players.

I keep on thinking DW will get hurt. He seems very fragile.
